Chinese spy balloon the size of three buses is spotted floating over Montana for DAYS as US mobilizes F-22 Raptors to intercept: Biden wanted to shoot it down but Pentagon advised him not to because of falling debris

A Chinese surveillance balloon has been hovering over the northern U.S. for the past few days, the Pentagon confirmed on Thursday

Defense officials discussed shooting it out of the sky on Wednesday while it was above Billings, Montana - but decided instead to monitor it closely

F-22 Raptors were sent from Nellis Air Force Base in southern Nevada, but they did not engage with the object

A massive Chinese surveillance balloon has been hovering over the northern United States for the last few days, senior defense officials confirmed on Thursday - with Joe Biden being briefed on Wednesday about his options, including shooting it out of the sky.

Biden suggested the high-altitude balloon should be shot down, after it was spotted and reported by civilians in a commercial airliner, U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal.

The Pentagon opposed the move, fearing civilian casualties if the giant balloon - the size of three buses - is exploded in the air.

'The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now,' Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder told NBC News.

'We continue to track and monitor it closely.'

F-22 Raptors were sent from Nellis Air Force Base in southern Nevada, but they are not thought to have engaged with the balloon - their activities prompted a ground stop at the airport in Billings, however, with air traffic controllers citing a 'special military mission.'

Family firm Hunter Biden begs friends, dad Joe's employees to get him off the hook in laptop scandal

February 2, 2023

Hunter Biden has friends in high places.

Two Delaware prosecutors whom the first son’s lawyer called upon to probe Hunter’s infamous laptop have deep ties to the Biden family — while a top DOJ official who received a similar demand is a veteran of the Obama administration and liberal think tanks, an analysis by The Post has shown.

In other developments in the laptop story:

Hunter Biden attorney Abbe Lowell tried to walk back his prior admission that the laptop did indeed belong to his client.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy dismissed the first son’s investigation demand as a “delaying tactic” and vowed lawmakers would “get to the bottom” of the computer’s secrets.

An attorney for repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac slammed Hunter Biden as “desperate” and trying to “blame everyone else for his own actions.”

Lowell fired off a series of letters late Wednesday calling for a criminal investigation into what happened to the laptop after it was abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop in 2019.

First State Attorney General Kathy Jennings was among those urged to look into people connected with the laptop, including Mac Isaac, and former President Donald Trump’s onetime attorney Rudy Giuliani.

Jennings, a Democrat who was elected state AG in 2018, was tapped in 2011 by then-Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden — Hunter’s late brother — to serve as a prosecutor in the state Department of Justice.

In 2019, despite the misgivings of many Democrats about a Biden 2020 presidential run, Jennings jumped on board the day the former vice president announced he would seek the White House.

“I’ve known Joe, Jill, and the Biden family for most of my life,” Jennings wrote in a gushing Facebook post. “Joe is one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever known … I’m choosing Joe because nobody understands more what it means to heal, and right now that’s what America needs.”

Even closer to the Biden family is Jennings’ chief deputy, Alexander Mackler, who served as Joe Biden’s press secretary in his final months as a US senator, managed Beau’s successful re-election campaign for state attorney general in 2010, and served as the elder Biden’s deputy counsel during his time as Barack Obama’s vice president.

Mackler’s name also appears frequently in Hunter Biden’s laptop.

“I just finished a hellacious couple months in court,” Mackler wrote Hunter on Oct. 16, 2018 in a message with the subject line “Hey”.

“Now that I have a chance to breathe, was wondering how life is on your end,” Mackler went on. “Last you told me you were out in LA. Gimme a call sometime we can catch up. Love you brother.”

In Mackler’s last message to Hunter, from Feb. 3, 2019, he wished his friend a happy birthday and added, “Lost track of time down here. Hope you’re ok. Call sometime.”

Jennings’ office didn’t respond to The Post on Thursday when asked if she would recuse herself from any potential investigation given her personal and professional ties to the Bidens.

Meanwhile, another letter from Lowell was addressed to the Justice Department’s top national security official, Matthew Olsen — who held several sensitive legal positions in the Obama-Biden administration, including general counsel of the National Security Agency and director of the National Counterterrorism Center before leaving government in 2014.

==While in the private sector, Olsen was a fellow at two left-leaning think tanks — the Center for a New American Security and the Center for American Progress — and wrote a number of op-eds critical of Trump and his administration.

One of those op-eds, published during the 2016 election campaign by Time, bore the provocative title: “Why ISIS Supports Donald Trump.“==

When Biden nominated Olsen to head the DOJ’s National Security Division in May 2021, many Republican senators saw him as damaged goods.

“Although I appreciate Mr. Olsen’s prior public service, he no longer has the credibility necessary to fill this important role given the partisan nature of his post-government writings,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said at the time. “Institutions are only as good as the American public’s confidence in them, and Mr. Olsen would further undermine public confidence in America’s national security institutions.”

Olsen was ultimately confirmed on a near party-line vote of 53-45.

A DOJ spokesperson declined to comment Thursday when asked if Olsen would play a role in any possible Hunter laptop probe.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer has appealed for a criminal “investigation” into those who exposed his laptop from two people with a long friendly history with the Bidens:

Kathy Jennings, Delaware Attorney General

Named state prosecutor in Delaware DOJ in 2011 by Beau Biden, Hunter’s late brother.

Endorsed Biden for president the day he announced, writing on Facebook: “I’ve known Joe, Jill, and the Biden family for most of my life. Joe is one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever known . . . I’m choosing Joe because nobody understands more what it means to heal, and right now that’s what America needs.”

Chief Deputy AG Alexander Mackler was Biden’s deputy counsel while VP, managed Beau’s AG campaign in 2010, and was Biden’s press secretary while a senator.

Matthew Olsen, assistant AG for National Security

Held a number of positions in Obama-Biden administration, including NSA general counsel and director of National Counterterrorism Center before leaving government in 2014.

Wrote article in Time magazine in 2016 headlined: “Why ISIS supports Donald Trump.”

Nominated by Biden as national security AAG in May 2021, confirmed on party-line vote, with Sen. Marco Rubio saying Olsen “no longer has the credibility necessary to fill this important role given the partisan nature of his post-government writings.”

Since June 2017:

Ivanka Trump has been spotted several times since the early summer sporting a thin red thread tied around her wrist. Set against the backdrop of her meticulously styled “looks,” complete with Ivanka Trump-brand jewelry, dresses and shoes, the red threat might seem out of place — even off-brand. But the bracelet has special significance to some religious Jews — and is a noted symbol of Kabbalah.

Though the practice of wearing a red string shows up in many ancient cultures, its first mention in Jewish texts dates back nearly 2,000 years. There were some Hasidic masters in Europe who preached that it was a sign that the wearer was particularly pious.

Since then the red thread has become something of a tourist specialty, offered to Jews coming to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Often the person offering the red thread will ask for a donation in return, as tzedakah — charity. It is particularly offered to women, in a reference to the red thread’s Kabbalistic symbolism.

There are tales from Jewish mystical masters about Rachel, the wife of Isaac, that say Rachel was something of an ideal woman: generous, modest, beautiful and kind. Thus some vendors of the red bracelet will tell you it was cut from string wrapped around Rachel’s tomb in Hebron.

The traditional, Kabbalah-referencing red thread also has seven knots in it, as seven is a highly symbolic number in Kabbalah. Like other Kabbalistic talismans, you can see celebrities who love Jewish mysticism — like Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mick Jagger — sporting the string.

The red thread can be seen all over Israel. Since Trump has been photographed with the bracelet since early June, it is likely that she received the string on her visit to Israel — perhaps even at the Western Wall.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will BAN drag shows in the state to 'protect kids' - after already putting limits on teaching critical race theory in classrooms

February 2, 2023

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is set to ban drag shows in order to 'protect' children after already cracking down on critical race theory in schools.

Sanders and her supporters said the bill, which would re-define drag shows as 'adult-oriented performances,' is meant to protect social values as it bans the shows from public areas with children despite outcry from the LGBTQ community.

Alexa Henning, a spokeswoman for the governor, said the bill was not aimed at 'banning anything,' but rather about 'protecting kids' from 'sexually explicit drag shows.'

'Only in the radical left's woke dystopia is it not appropriate to protect kids,' Henning told The Washington Post.

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will sign a bill banning drag shows from areas accessible by minors in order to 'protect kids'

The bill would ultimately do away with drag storytime performances, which sees drag queens reading to students for free at public libraries

It's Sanders' latest move amid the US culture wars after she issued limits on teaching critical race theory in schools

Arkansas Senate Bill 43, which was filed last month, is aimed at placing restrictions on where drag performances can take place.

The bill goes on to define a drag performance as something where a performer 'exhibits a gender identity that is different from the performer's gender assigned at birth.'

'[This includes] using clothing, makeup, or other accessories that are traditionally worn by members of and are meant to exaggerate the gender identity of the performer's opposite sex,' the bill reads.

It ultimately labels any instances of drag as 'adult-oriented performances' and 'adult nudity.'

Examples of adult-oriented businesses at present include adult bookstores or video stores, adult live entertainment, escort agencies, nude model studios, massage businesses with adult services, adult motion picture theaters and adult cabarets.

The bill also states that no adult-oriented business may be located on public property or where a minor, defined as someone less than 18 years of age, can view it.

It means the bill would effectively ban drag storytime, which sees drag queens visiting libraries and reading books to children for free.

LGBTQ activists, however, say drag shows do not usually involve nudity or stripping, and should not be lumped together in the adult-oriented category.

The bill stands as the latest shakeup to the state following Sanders' inauguration in January, with the new governor already issuing an executive order to prohibit critical race theory in schools.

The executive order signed by Sanders orders the state to review education rules and policies examining if CRT or other topics that 'indoctrinate students with ideologies' are promoted in schools across Arkansas.

The order read: 'As it relates to employees, contractors, and guest speakers or lecturers of the Department of Education, the Secretary [of Education] is directed to review and enhance the policies that prevent prohibited indoctrination, including CRT.

'The Secretary shall ensure that no school employee or student shall be required to attend trainings or orientations based on prohibited indoctrination or CRT.'

The move comes amid a culture war in American schools GOP-led states are pushing bans on CRT.

She comes from a good family

Remember when her Dad was Governor, he lived in a mobile home on the grounds of the State capitol building rather than some spendy digs during an extensive remodel. Mike Huckabee is a great man. Mike Huckabee is a chip off the old block, love that woman

Remember when, Arkansas? Gov. Huckabee's triple-wide residence drew national attention in 2000

Does anyone recognize the scene in this photo from the Democrat-Gazette archives? Hint: The year was 2002.

That January, the last disassembled section of America's most famous mobile home sat behind the Arkansas Governor's Mansion, waiting to be towed off to storage.

It was one of three parts of a 2,131-square-foot structure with three bedrooms, two living areas, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a fireplace. Then-Gov. Mike Huckabee, his wife and three college-age children lived there for 16 months, while contractors replaced 50-year-old plumbing and wiring in the red-brick, Georgian-style mansion.

Janet Huckabee insisted the family's temporary housing was "a multisection manufactured home," but pundits and the public quickly nicknamed it "the triple-wide."

Champion Homebuilders of Ridgeville, Ind., donated the $110,000 triple-wide, which was hauled to Arkansas in August 2000, in three 70-foot sections, from Ridgeville. Jokes ran ahead of its arrival.

For instance, Arkansas House Speaker-designate Shane Broadway of Bryant apologized to his fellow Democrats for arriving late to the party convention: "We got stuck behind the Governor's Mansion on Interstate 30."

"Tonight Show" host Jay Leno pretended he had video of the couple at home, but the footage showed a rattletrap structure reminiscent of the opening montage from "The Beverly Hillbillies."

The next day, in a 10-minute appearance via satellite, the Huckabees sparred with Leno, who suggested hillbilly Arkansas voters resented the choice of a "double-wide" as putting on airs. "It's a triple-wide," Huckabee said, "it's actually large enough that we can get you and your chin in the whole thing here."

Leno quipped that the mobile home had "plenty of room for dogs under that porch." And just then the Huckabees' black Labrador retriever, Jet, emerged from below the triple-wide, which had yet to be anchored to its concrete footing.

After Leno referred several times to the "double-wide trailer," Janet Huckabee corrected him: "Jay, it's not a trailer. It's a multisection manufactured home."

"A multisection manufactured home? Boy, you are politicians," Leno responded.

==Leno asked, "What's the worst part about living in a trailer?"

Huckabee said, "If the voters don't like you, they can always just have you towed away."==

In April 2002, the Arkansas Governor's Mansion Association gave the triple-wide to the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches for use at its DeGray Lake campus in Clark County.

Hunter Biden served defamation lawsuit by computer repair shop owner days before his lawyer called for criminal probes

February 2, 2023

Hunter Biden was served with a defamation lawsuit by John Paul Mac Isaac last week, five days before the disgraced first son sought his own legal action against the former computer repair shop owner who came into possession of the infamous “laptop from hell.”

A private investigator hired by Mac Isaac tracked down Hunter in Culver City, California last Friday to serve him with the lawsuit — seen by The Post — that seeks damages in excess of $75,000 from the 80-year-old president’s son.

“It was very difficult to find where he was,” Mac Isaac’s lawyer Brian Della Rocca told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Thursday about attempts to smoke out Hunter Biden.

“You know, he was in DC for a couple of weeks and he was moving around. Well, we finally tracked him down and we were able to serve him last week. And now all of a sudden, we see this,” Della Rocca added, referencing letters sent out by Hunter Biden’s lawyer on Wednesday pleading for a criminal probe into Mac Isaac and others who disseminated the contents of the infamous laptop.

Mac Isaac and his lawyer allege that Hunter instructed his lawyer, Abbe Lowell, to seek a criminal investigation as payback.

“He’s trying to intimidate. And it’s interesting to me that this happened when it did,” Della Rocca told Carlson.

The letters accuse Mac Isaac, who owned The Mac Shop in Wilmington, Del., of “unlawfully” accessing the now-52-year-old’s personal data after the water-damaged laptop was abandoned at his store in 2019.

Lowell’s targets for prosecution include Mac Isaac, former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and Giuliani’s personal lawyer Robert Costello, all of whom Lowell accuses of attempting to “weaponize” sordid and incriminating contents on the “laptop from hell” against Joe Biden.

“This failed dirty political trick directly resulted in the exposure, exploitation, and manipulation of Mr. Biden’s private and personal information,” Lowell wrote. “Mr. Mac Isaac’s intentional, reckless, and unlawful conduct allowed for hundreds of gigabytes of Mr. Biden’s personal data, without any discretion, to be circulated around the Internet.”

Della Rocca insists that Mac Isaac became the legal owner of the laptop after Hunter Biden dropped it off to be repaired in April 2019 — but failed to return to reclaim it despite attempts by Mac Isaac to contact him.

Mac Isaac initially filed the lawsuit in May of last year against Adam Schiff, CNN, the Daily Beast and Politico.

Hunter Biden was added to the suit in October, and the Daily Beast was dropped from the action last year after the news outlet apologized for wrongly referring to the laptop as “stolen.”
