Anon and family lived in Cali entire life. Had to hire caretakers to help care for both Anons parents with Alzheimer’s, in their own home. State of Cali required Anon to pay unemployment insurance and business taxes on those caretakers. Anon did everything by the book.
Had 1 caretaker quit, for an easier job, about a month before CoVid was ever heard of in the world. CoVid hits, caretaker loses new job, and she files for unemployment benefits against us, saying we let her go due to CoVid. We informed Unemployment Department she left us for a different job, sent copies of all that text conversation in writing, dates, schedules including other caretakers still employed by us, payment receipts from payroll company, yet they still gave her unemployment benefits out of our account. Anon filed an appeal, as she quit her job with us and not layed-off due to CoVid as she claimed, they still gave her the benefits.
State of Cali is screwed for so many reasons, including the fact that they require you to run care for your sick elderly parents in their own home as a business, then make you pay unemployment benefits to someone who clearly did not qualify.
Anon lost both parents to CoVid within 6 days of each other, a year after that;
Jan 30, and Feb 5. Those 6 days were the longest they had been apart from each other in over 65 years. Anon thinks of it as a true love story.
Same caretaker filed to renew her unemployment benefits not knowing my parents had died. We again appealed it as they were deceased. State still gave her the money! Almost 2 years after she originally left.
State of Cali sucks. They enable corruption!
