Are the "jobs" available real-not just "We have to put up a 'hiring' sign for some government program compliance issue."

I don't want to inadvertently give credence to the CCP by highlighting deficiencies in the US regulatory system. However, when I see very public criticism of something out of China, I often ask myself if the same is going on here, just maybe "sanitized" for American consumption.
What would we conclude if we saw the CDC as military or quasi-military? I think that if the CCP/PLA is interwoven with all aspects of Chinese society we ought to consider if our own US based Military-Industrial Complex is also similarly interwoven with "civilian" enterprises.
