>madness of crowds

right - once it gets going, it cannot be stopped until the energy runs its course. Has to be navigated with care, like a raging river.

In Aug 2019, people were hysterical about mass shootings. Momentum started with NZ, then there were 2 Cali shootings, and finally El Paso.

Result: 8 was deplatformmed for 3 mos.

Another result: Trump made concessions about possibility of using red flag laws - TOTALLY against anything he believes afaik. But was watching closely, realized atm that it was IMPOSSIBLE to do or say anything other than he said. Later, was able to not pursue it. But atm, had to "entertain" the idea as a possibility because of the crowd hysteria.

> Being lied to or being coerced into a course of action is not an excuse for a President.

Some courses of action have serious tradeoffs that are impossible to avoid because of the nature of the situation or the understanding of the people. Real leaders must be able to make decisions knowing that people will, as a result, be harmed or even killed. Perhaps large numbers. The challenge - to make those tough decision with as much integrity as you can. Trump is not perfect but has a lot more integrity than any other leader in a position to be President.

just my 2cents.
