i'd like to perform an experiment.
i need as many responses as possible.
even if they're all the same.
serious question…
what is the moral of "the tortoise and the hare?"

>what is the moral of the fable, "the tortoise and the hare?"
pls allow me discuss the replies case by case, as it were… (don't hate me, i'm just the messenger.)
if you answered "slow and steady wins the race," or something along those lines, i have a question for you… do you grasp what it means to be the moral of a story? it means the moral is a universal truth. something that is ALWAYS true. that would mean that every time a tortoise and a hare raced, the tortoise would win. does that sound like a universal truth to you?
so if that was your answer, my next question is, where did you get this patently absurd idea? did you figure it out all by yourself? if you did, well, sorry, you're a dumbass. but at least you did your own thinking. there may be hope for you yet.
i'd bet a more likely explanation is a public school teacher TOLD you that was the moral of the story, and you accepted it. i find this far more difficult to overlook. the fact that you did not question it, even tho it is idiotic on the face of it, betrays a deeper issue. blind trust in authority figures (other than your own parents) trumped common sense and critical reasoning.
the ONLY reason the tortoise won is because the hare was arrogant and over-confident, and fell asleep during the race. so the moral of the story would be something like "over-confidence is your worst enemy," or "pride goeth before a fall," or anything along those lines. maybe even, persistence SOMETIMES pays off even against all odds. if your answer fell along those lines, congratulations. you passed THIS test of critical thinking. just be careful that you don't fall into the same trap as the hare.
if you came up with the slow and steady moral on your own, maybe it's time to reexamine some other fundamental perspectives you have. if you were TOLD that obviously wrong moral, and you BELIEVED it, without QUESTIONING it, you are a perfect example of the triumph of public education.
because that's exactly the real purpose of public INDOCTRINTION. to get you to FAIL. to get you to be lazy and not apply yourself; to tell you it's "OK" to put forth a half-assed effort, because hey, don't sweat it, slow and steady will win the race. what they OUGHT to be doing is instilling you with a competitive spirit to ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST; always bust your ass; always give 100% effort; and warn you of the consequences of false pride and underestimating the competition. but that's exactly what they DON'T want you to do. they want you to believe you can be a lazy fuck-up, and things will magically work out alright. they WANT you to grow up to be a lazy stupid underachiever incapable of thinking for yourself. slow and steady. RIGHT.
NEWSFLASH: you've been duped! you shouldn't feel TOO bad. i've asked the same question of thousands of college freshman, and i can count the number of correct responses on one hand (maybe a slight exaggeration, but not much). on the positive side, you had the courage to take the risk of putting yourself out there and giving an answer. good on you. to risk being wrong is the only way to learn. which brings me to the third category of responses.
if you blew off the question with some snarky reply, or ignored it altogether, then you're worse than either of the people described above. they're likely just victims of public indoctrination. you're probably dumber than dirt, but on top of that, you're a COWARD afraid to give the wrong answer because it might shatter your fragile ego, so you substitute bravado and condescending phony superiority as a way to side-step the question and avoid consequences. or you hid behind your keyboard and let others answer. you are a chickenshit who will do or say ANYTHING to save face. because you believe LOOKING smart is more important than BEING smart.
i got a NEWSFLASH for YOU: you don't belong here. they need people like you over on the deepstate side. shallow, vain, stupid, and CORRUPTIBLE. you have a big future as a DS shill. if you kiss enough ass and fuck enough children, maybe you'll even get your own podcast. who knows, you might even get to be an intern for a congressman.
