Pink Floyd feud: David Gilmour accuses Roger Waters of being ‘lip-synching anti-Semite’

February 7, 2023

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters has been accused of being an “antisemitic Putin apologist” by former bandmate David Gilmour and his wife.

Polly Samson attacked bassist Waters after he appeared to defend Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and branded Joe Biden a “war criminal” for supplying arms to Kyiv and, in his mind, “fueling” the war.

“Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core,” Samson tweeted. She went on to make a series of unsubstantiated accusations, calling Waters a “Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical… lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac.” “Enough of your nonsense,” she added.

Waters, incensed at the accusations, hit back, with a statement saying: “Roger Waters is aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson which he refutes entirely. He is currently taking advice as to his position.”

Despite the legal threat, Gilmour backed up his wife’s tweet an hour later, adding, “Every word demonstrably true.”

In an interview with Berliner Zeitung, Waters asked: “And I wonder: is Putin a bigger gangster than Joe Biden and all those in charge of American politics since World War II? I am not so sure. Putin didn’t invade Vietnam or Iraq? Did he?”

He added: “Anyone with half a brain can see that the conflict in Ukraine was provoked beyond all measure. It is probably the most provoked invasion ever.”

Asked if he still believed in previous comments comparing Israel to Nazi Germany, he doubled down: “Yes, of course. The Israelis are committing genocide. Just like Great Britain did during our colonial period, by the way.”

He also slammed Pink Floyd’s “sad” recent release Hey Rise Up with the Ukrainian musician Andrij Chlywnjuk which raised £500,000 to help “alleviate the suffering” of the people in the war-torn country.

He said: “I have seen the video and I am not surprised, but I find it really, really sad. It’s so alien to me, this action is so lacking in humanity. It encourages the continuation of the war. Pink Floyd is a name I used to be associated with. That was a huge time in my life, a very big deal. To associate that name now with something like this… proxy war makes me sad.Guitarist and vocalist Gilmour, who has a Ukrainian daughter-in-law and grandchildre previously said the group had been “feeling the fury and the frustration of this vile act of an independent, peaceful democratic country being invaded and having its people murdered by one of the world’s major powers”.

"Mother"

Mother, do you think they'll drop the bomb?

Mother, do you think they'll like this song?

Mother, do you think they'll try to break my balls?

Ooh, aah, mother, should I build the wall?

Mother, should I run for president?

Mother, should I trust the government?

Mother, will they put me in the firing line?

Ooh, aah, is it just a waste of time?

Steve Daines released from Twitter Jail

February 7, 2023

Daines' account was made 'temporarily unavailable' because the lawmaker violated the 'Twitter Media Policy,' his Twitter page read, with the company claiming the Montana Republican violated the 'sensitive media policy' because it contained 'graphic or adult content.'

'You may not include graphic violence or adult content in your profile photo or profile header image,' Twitter said. 'We consider graphic violence to be any form of gory media related to death, serious injury, violence, or surgical procedures.'

A Daines spokesperson told DailyMail.com that Twitter informed the senator his account would be reinstated once he deleted the profile picture.

'We've reached out to Twitter to get this resolved because the Senator believes it is preposterous that a picture of him and his wife hunting - an activity that is engrained in the Montana way of life - would be against Twitter rules,' spokesperson Rachel Dumke said before Musk responded via Twitter.

Later, in a statement, Daines said he was 'grateful' Musk had reached out to him to settle the issue.

'The initial ban over the profile photo of my wife and me after a successful Montana antelope hunt was disappointing given the fact that it is no different than photos Montanans share on social media every day,' Daine said. 'It's our Montana way of life and we are proud of it.'

'I am glad Elon Musk recognizes this,' he added. 'The rest of the country benefits from the acceptance of diverse thoughts and values, including Montana values.'

Alec Baldwin has demanded the special prosecutor assigned to his involuntary manslaughter case be disqualified due to her status as a Republican lawmaker.

February 7, 2023

Baldwin, who faces up to five years in jail if convicted in the highly publicized trial, said the appointment of Andrea Reeb was 'unconstitutional' as she serves in the New Mexico House of Representatives.

A motion to the court filed on behalf of the Hollywood star - a Democrat and vocal Donald Trump critic - says she 'must' be taken off the case.

Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after being handed a gun with live ammunition on the set of his film Rust in October 2021.

Reeb, a Republican, kicked off the prosecution sensationally last month, flatly declaring that if not for the actions of Baldwin and others on set 'Hutchins would be alive today.'

Now Baldwin's team alleges Reeb's appointment is a violation of New Mexico's constitution which prohibits the mixing of two branches of government.

It adds that she could face 'pressure' to make a decision that serves her 'legislative interests'.

The argument is a constitutional one and not politically motivated, his team said.

'Under Section 1 of Article III of the New Mexico Constitution, however, a sitting member of the Legislature may not 'exercise any powers properly belonging' to either the executive or judicial branch,' Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas said in the motion.

'As a special prosecutor, Representative Reeb is vested by statute with 'all the powers and duties' of a District Attorney, who is considered to be a member of either the judicial or executive branch of the New Mexico government.

'The legal question is not a close one, she must be disqualified.'

Baldwin is scheduled to make his first court appearance over the case on February 24.

Reeb was elected as district attorney in Mexico in 2014 before being elected to the New Mexico representative house in November 2022.

She took up the role at the start of this year.

She was also asked to act as a special prosecutor which involves working independently in a criminal investigation and identifying potential conflicts of interest and facilitating expertise.

Last month she denied her prosecutorial decisions were not impacted by politics.

'Everybody's equal under the law. It doesn't matter if he's a liberal Democrat and I'm a conservative Republican,' she told CNN.

'My job has always been to prosecute crimes and hold defendants accountable and help victims. In this case it's no different.'

But the motion filed by Baldwin's team argues that the high public interest in the case as well as Reeb's political platform could skew her objectivity.
