US Attorney General allows first transfer of Russian oligarch’s confiscated assets to Ukraine

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on February 3 that the frozen assets of a Russian oligarch will be transferred to Ukraine. “Today I am announcing that I have authorized the first-ever transfer of confiscated Russian assets for use in Ukraine,” he said. The assets were seized after the indictment of oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev on sanctions-evasion charges. Garland said the assets will be transferred to the State Department to be spent “in support of the people of Ukraine.” Garland made the announcement during a meeting with Ukrainian Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin.

China wants spy balloon back: ‘It belongs to China’

China suggested it wants the U.S. to return the spy balloon recently shot down over the Atlantic Ocean as efforts to recover its debris are ongoing.

On Tuesday, reporters asked Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning if China asked the U.S. to return the balloon’s debris.

“The airship does not belong to the U.S.,” Mao replied. “It belongs to China.”

China’s Foreign Ministry already criticized the U.S. for shooting down the balloon on Saturday, saying it was an overreaction and serious violation of international norms, state news agency Xinhua reported. The ministry reserved China’s right to make any necessary responses.

The spy balloon became a national fixation and fueled tensions between the superpowers during its nearly week-long flight over the U.S. It flew over Montana, home to some nuclear missile silos, and the Pentagon said its goal was to surveil strategic sites.

China has claimed that the balloon was a civilian weather research balloon blown far off course. The day before it was shot down by an F-22 fighter jet, Mao had urged “both sides” to “handle this matter together in a cool-headed and prudent manner.”

The first photos of the U.S. effort to recover the balloon from the ocean were released Tuesday.

Air Force Gen. Glen VanHerck told reporters Monday that the balloon — which was 200 feet tall and carried an airliner-jet-sized payload weighing likely “in excess of a couple thousand pounds” — created a debris field of “more than 15 football fields by 15 football fields” off the coast of South Carolina.

A U.S. official said the spy balloon’s surveillance payload did not survive the fall from about 58,000 feet intact, ABC News reported. A portion was located on the ocean floor, they said, while another small portion was recovered from the surface.

Absurd US propaganda claims China has more ICBMs than America

Mere days after the United States pompously announced that it has soundly defeated an adrift weather balloon, another absurdity has taken the headlines in the mainstream media. Apparently, China somehow managed to overtake America in the number of ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) launchers. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal on February 7, citing the Senate and House Armed Services Committees. According to WSJ, the commander of the US Strategic Command, which oversees America’s nuclear forces, notified the US Congress about the supposed Chinese advantage.

“The number of land-based fixed and mobile ICBM launchers in China exceeds the number of ICBM launchers in the United States,” the commander stated.

The author of the WSJ article himself admitted that the US is currently modernizing its entire nuclear triad (land, sea and air-launched nuclear weapons) and that “it has a much larger nuclear force than China”. The Strategic Command also notified US lawmakers that America still has more land-based ICBMs than China, as well as several times more thermonuclear warheads mounted on those missiles. Worse yet, the report doesn’t even include SLBMs (submarine-launched ballistic missiles) and strategic bombers that make the US dominance even more pronounced.

But US officials and experts are claiming that “many of China’s land-based launchers still consist of empty silos”, meaning that Beijing “potentially has more launch options”. The lawmakers cited these launchers as “a portent of the scale of China’s longer-range ambitions and are urging the US to expand its own nuclear forces to counter the Russian and Chinese forces”. According to Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, “China is rapidly approaching parity with the United States”.

“We cannot allow that to happen. The time for us to adjust our force posture and increase capabilities to meet this threat is now,” Rogers stated.

He then criticized America’s compliance with the New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty), claiming this is “inhibiting the US from building up its arsenal to deter Russia and China”. And while China isn’t included in the treaty (set to expire in 2026), Russia is, meaning that Moscow is also “inhibited” by it, making the assertion all the more illogical. On the other hand, many US experts are now claiming that it’s in the US interest to preserve treaty limits with Russia and to also attempt to draw Beijing into it, while still continuing with constant modernization of America’s nuclear arsenal.

Rose Gottemoeller, a US arms control expert who took part in negotiating the New START, stated: “It’s in our national interest to keep the Russians under the New START limits. We need to complete our nuclear modernization according to plan, not pile on new requirements.”

The WSJ report posits that the US is now trying to deal with Russia and China by using a mix of arms control treaties and upgraded nuclear forces. The Pentagon’s 2022 Nuclear Posture Review identified both superpowers as strategic rivals, stating that “by the 2030s the United States will, for the first time in its history, face two major nuclear powers as strategic competitors and potential adversaries.”

Second minor earthquake in less than a day rattles Israel; no injuries or damage

Earthquake detection system seen working on live TV as top scientist at Geological Survey gives interview on previous tremor

A second minor temblor in less than a day rattled Israel on Wednesday amid fears the country could face a major earthquake like the deadly quakes that have killed more than 11,000 people in nearby Turkey and Syria.

The IDF Home Front Command said the quake measured 3.3 on the Richter scale and was centered in central Israel. No injuries or damage were immediately reported, but residents across the country reported feeling tremors.

It followed a 3.5-magnitude tremor on Tuesday night that was centered around 15 kilometers (9 miles) southeast of the settlement city of Ariel in the West Bank.

The Home Front Command said that warning sirens were not sounded for either quake because the tremors posed no danger to residents.

The warning system put in place last year in cooperation with the Geological Survey of Israel can issue an alert to citizens with sirens, similar to those used in rocket attacks, within seven seconds of a quake that measures more than 4.5 on the Richter scale.

Unable to stop Russia’s advance on the front line, the Ukrainian military continues daily shelling of civilians in the regions they have lost. Every day, people are killed by Ukrainian artillery in the city of Donetsk and other settlements of the DPR and LPR.

On February 7, one of the Ukrainian attacks hit the Kievsky district of Donetsk located in the south-western part of the city. Ukrainian Nazis intentionally targeted a bus station on Semashko Avenue.

Ukrainian Nazis are often targeting the bus stops in attempt to kill and wound as much civilians as possible.

Four women (born in 1956, 1960, 1974, 1986) and a man (born in 1963) fell victims. The women were heavily wounded. The man was a bus driver. He received the most severe wounds. Unfortunately, he died from blood loss on the way to the hospital.

Former top Twitter execs: Twitter 'made a mistake' censoring Hunter Biden laptop story

Chairman Comer argued that Twitter worked with the FBI to 'monitor the protected speech of Americans' with the Hunter Biden laptop story as an example but former Twitter exec says he doesn't recall talking to the FBI about it

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer alleged Wednesday that Big Tech giants such as Twitter are "under the control of people who are hostile to the fundamental American principles of free speech" and have colluded with federal agencies to censor stories embarrassing to President Joe Biden and his family.

"We owe it to the American people to provide answers about this collusion to censor information about Joe Biden's involvement in his family's business schemes," Comer said at a committee hearing on censorship in America with former executives from Twitter, according to prepared remarks.

Comer said his investigators had substantiated that there was "coordination between the federal government and Big Tech to restrict protected speech and interfere in the democratic process" that began even before Twitter famously censored New York Post stories in October 2020 about the contents of Hunter Biden's now infamous laptop.

"In the months leading up to the laptop story, the FBI advised senior Twitter executives to question the validity of any Hunter Biden story," he said. "We also know that one of the witnesses before us today participated in an Aspen Institute exercise in September 2020 on a potential 'hack and dump' operation relating to Hunter Biden. Other Big Tech companies and reporters attended as well.

"This exercise prepared them for their future collusion to suppress and delegitimize information contained in Hunter Biden's laptop about the Biden family's business schemes."

Censorship of such stories in the midst of a presidential election might in earlier generations have been unthinkable but Comer said it was made possible by troubling biases in the leadership of Big Tech companies.

"Many social media platforms are under the control of people who are hostile to the fundamental American principles of free speech and expression protected in the U.S. Constitution," he said. "We've witnessed Big Tech autocrats wield their unchecked power to suppress the speech of Americans to promote their preferred political opinions. Twitter was once one of these platforms — until Elon Musk purchased the company a few months ago …

"In the past, Twitter's employees made censorship decisions on the fly, often not following the company's own publicly stated policies. It worked hand-in-hand with the FBI to monitor the protected speech of Americans — receiving millions of dollars to do so."

James Baker, former deputy general counsel at Twitter, argued that Twitter was not working as a state actor.

"I think the best reading of the law is that as a private entity, the First Amendment protects Twitter and its content moderation decisions," he said.

Baker said he wasn't aware of unlawful collusion.

Israeli Minister Says No Pause on Settlements After US Asked Israel to Halt Expansion

One of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hard-right allies said on Tuesday Israel would not freeze Jewish settlement building in the occupied West Bank, a week after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken pressed Israel to halt construction.

"There will be no construction freeze in Judea and Samaria period," a statement from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party said on Tuesday, using a term common in Israel for the West Bank.

Senior members of Netanyahu's far-right coalition have sought to further expand Jewish settlement in the West Bank, which was captured by Israel in a 1967 war and where Palestinians have long aimed to establish a state. Most world powers consider Israel's settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as illegal.

On a visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories last week, Blinken repeated U.S. calls for a two-state solution to the decades-long conflict between Israel and the Palestinians and called publicly for an end to settlement expansion.

In private talks with Netanyahu, Blinken also asked Israel to stop Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank and halt the demolition of Palestinian houses, three U.S. and Arab sources confirmed to Reuters, stressing that the request was not expressed as a formal demand.

Smotrich also oversees defence ministry organizations that are responsible for enforcing some regulations in the West Bank, giving him significant powers over the area.

Hopes of achieving a two-state solution, with a Palestinian state based largely in the West Bank, have all but disappeared since the last round of U.S.-sponsored talks stalled in 2014.

Austrian Colonel claims NATO soldiers are fighting in Ukraine as mercenaries

According to Colonel Markus Reisner, the military strategist of the Austrian Ministry of Defence, Ukraine does not need NATO soldiers, as they are already there on the frontlines as mercenaries.

In a video posted on the Intel republic Telegram channel, the Austrian can be seen and heard giving his view on the situation. Reisner’s remark came in response to a question posed during a press conference at the AIES Institute. One of the journalists asked him who would be managing the proposed transfer of tanks to Ukraine – NATO servicemen or Ukrainians.

Reisner replied that if the military from Austria or NATO countries retired from service and became mercenaries, then they could no longer be considered representatives of the armies of their states.

He explained that the serviceman takes off his uniform, signs a contract and goes to Ukraine – now he is not a soldier, for example, of the Austrian armed forces, but a contract mercenary. In his opinion, there are a large number of mercenaries on the territory of Ukraine and not soldiers of the alliance.

Earlier, Viktor Zolotov, the head of the Russian Guard, announced an increase in the number of mercenaries from European countries fighting on the side of the armed forces of Ukraine.

These mercenaries have considerable experience of participating in armed conflicts in various countries of the world, as well as relevant training he suggested.

Last December, Andrei Marochko, an officer of the People’s Militia of the LPR, claimed that he had proof that mercenaries from more than 30 countries are fighting on the side of the Ukrainian military.

According to him, most of the conversations recorded by intelligence networks were in English with various dialects, along with some in the German, French, Italian and Polish languages.

New Zealand’s repressive regime continues to withhold information and refuses to investigate vaccine harms

One of the most effective ways to repress occupied populations is to cut out sources of information and remove the possibility of investigation. When reprisals against resistors caused public outrage in 1941, Hitler devised the Nacht und Nebel (Night and Fog) policy. Henceforth the fate of captured resistors, whether they were dead or alive, would be withheld from their dear ones and the public, who, living in dread, did not know whether to protest or hope. Inevitably, news of their cruel fate eventually leaked out.

Here is a personal family story of cardiac vaccine injury from the USA. You may have read similar stories, especially if you have searched for them. I am concerned here to point out the similarities and differences between the approach of the US medical services in this case and those here in New Zealand.

Emily’s sister, Jordan (age 26), reported to her GP with tachycardia – a very fast heart rate – after her first J&J jab. Jordan was rapidly transferred to hospital for assessment. Later Emily’s child, Aiden (age 14), reported to hospital with chest pains after his second Pfizer jab. At the hospital, both were extensively tested.

The doctors ordered an echocardiogram – ultrasound of the heart – for Jordan and saw a pericardial effusion – fluid around the heart. It progressed, and she then was diagnosed with pericarditis – inflammation of the sack-like membrane surrounding the heart – due to the J&J vaccine. The doctors issued Jordan with an exemption from further covid vaccination.

Aiden’s assessment by emergency department doctors revealed abnormal ECG – a test measuring electrical signals of the heart – and elevated troponin, an enzyme suggesting heart damage. At that point, Aiden was diagnosed with “vaccine-induced myocarditis.”

It is now a year since these incidents. Emily reports she is incredibly thankful for their medical care staff, the actions of Aiden’s cardiologist and other specialists, and the ongoing care through the year-long road to recovery. She has not received any compensation. Emily publicised their story, she reports:

“I truly expected some compassion and empathy, instead I was met with labels, accusations and blocks. I’m sad to say the bulk of it has come from the Twitter medical community. I find it beyond hypocritical to support a vaccine and deny the existence of the vaccine-injured, especially with clear causation.”

The vaccine-injured here in New Zealand will empathise with the abuse and the lack of compensation but will look with envy at the rapid issue of vaccine exemptions and the outstanding level of medical care and support.

Israel Deepens Support For Ukraine Despite Claims Of Balancing Its Relations With Russia

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who claimed he acted as an intermediary between Russia and Ukraine at the start of the special operation, said in a video that Russian President Vladimir Putin assured him that he would not kill his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. This revelation comes as Benjamin Netanyahu is back in power and is driving Israel even closer to Ukraine and further away from Russia.

“He gave me two great concessions,” Bennett said on February 4 of his March 5, 2022 meeting with Putin. It is recalled that Bennet flew to Moscow in an effort to mediate only weeks after the special military operation began in February 2022. “I knew Zelensky was under threat, in a bunker… I said to [Putin], ‘Do you intend to kill Zelensky?’ He said, ‘I won’t kill Zelensky’.”

The former Israeli Prime Minister said he immediately contacted the Ukrainian president after this revelation and told him, “I’ve just come out of a meeting — [Putin] is not going to kill you.

“[Zelensky] asked me, ‘Are you sure?’ I said 100 percent. [Putin’s] not going to kill you.”

Bennett recalled: “Two hours later, Zelensky went to his office, and did a video selfie in the office, [in which the Ukrainian president said,] ‘I’m not afraid.’”

According to Bennett, Putin agreed not to demand the disarming of Ukraine. In fact, that same weekend, Zelensky dropped Ukraine’s demand to become a NATO member. However, as recalled, Zelensky once again demanded for Ukraine to be fast-tracked into NATO after Russia announced the inclusion of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Kherson oblasts into the Russian Federation in September 2022.

Bennett also said that “everything I did [in the mediation effort] was coordinated with the US.”

This is an unsurprising detail since Kiev refuses to negotiate with Moscow because of Zelensky’s desire to carry out orders from Washington and London. The Anglo alliance effectively controls Kiev, proving that Zelensky is not a political actor but a puppet. Despite this, the West still continues to allude that Russia is refusing to negotiate.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the argument that Russia refuses to negotiate on the Ukraine issue is a lie, which Moscow will continue to refute.

“Our diplomacy has a job to do, on a daily basis, to explain what’s going on, to expose the lies, especially the current lies about our denial to negotiate,” he said.

Although Bennet attempted to portray himself as a mediator that is balancing between Kiev and Moscow, his actions have led to direct military support for Ukraine, and this policy will certainly not relax under Netanyahu.

Axios revealed on February 1 that the new Israeli government is conducting a policy review on its position on the Ukraine War. The report said, citing three unnamed Israeli officials, that Netanyahu ordered the policy review after returning to office in late December and discussed the matter with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken when they met in Jerusalem on January 30.

Netanyahu reportedly stressed to Blinken that Israel will not reduce humanitarian aid and support for Ukraine, with a senior Israeli official claiming that the Biden administration knows that Jerusalem will not shift Israel’s position closer to Moscow.

Yep, It Looks Like Team Biden Blew up Europe's Nord Stream Pipeline

The United States government blew up the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline connecting Russian suppliers to our allies Germany last year, according to a bombshell report from Seymour Hersh.

“The New York Times called it a ‘mystery,'” wrote Hersh, “but the United States executed a covert sea operation that was kept secret — until now.”

Hersh cites an anonymous source “with direct knowledge of the operational planning” who claimed that Navy divers, operating under the cover of NATO’s annual BALTOPS exercise last June, planted remotely-operated explosives that were detonated months later, last September.

White House spokeswoman Adrienne Watson told Hersh in an email that “This is false and complete fiction.”

“This claim is completely and utterly false,” a CIA spokeswoman wrote.

German authorities claimed last week Berlin’s investigators “currently have no evidence that Russia is behind the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines.” The Kremlin denied any involvement, although the CIA claimed that Russian submarines were detected in the area where the explosions occurred just one day before the leaks were detected.

Swedish investigators called the leaks “gross sabotage” in November due to “explosive residue [that] was identified on a number of the seized and analyzed foreign items.”

It never made much sense for Moscow to sabotage its own natural gas sales to Germany when it can choose to switch off the gas at the source, any time it pleases. In fact, the Russians have done just that on occasion to wrangle concessions out of Berlin. To this day, Germany remains one of the slowest and most recalcitrant suppliers of western arms to Ukraine.

ASIDE: German leadership has for most of this century been complicit in reducing German energy production and increasing dependence on Russia. Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, after leaving office, became chairman of Nord Stream and is about to become a highly paid member of GAZPROM’s board — the Russian company behind the pipeline.

So the purely hypothetical thinking (wink, wink) went, if someone could do something drastic enough to wean Germany off Russian energy supplies, Germany wouldn’t be so easy for Moscow to push around.

Four Supreme Court Justices Don’t Attend Biden’s State of the Union

Four Supreme Court justices were absent during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday night in front of both houses of Congress.

A review of footage of the area where Supreme Court justices sat during the speech show that Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, and Samuel Alito weren’t present. Sotomayor was appointed by former President Barack Obama, whereas the other three were appointed by former Presidents George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump, respectively.

There were no public comments from the court or the individual justices about why they did not attend the event. The Epoch Times has contacted the Supreme Court for comment.

28 arrested as Europe’s biggest Chinese prostitution ring is dismantled

Over 200 victims were trafficked to Europe into a conveyor belt of sexual exploitation

On 7 February, some 34 house searches were carried out in Belgium (Brussels, Antwerp and Charleroi) and Spain (Alicante and Barcelona). These actions follow earlier actions against members of this group which led to 7 arrests in Switzerland in May 2022.

A total of 28 individuals were arrested (27 in Belgium and one in Spain). Among those arrested in Belgium feature five Chinese nationals considered as high-value targets by Europol due to their involvement in multiple high-profile cases in Europe.

This international sweep follows a complex investigation led by the Belgian Federal Prosecutor (Federaal Parket) and Federal Judicial Police East Flanders (Federale Gerechtelijke Politie Oost-Vlaanderen), working together with their counterparts in Spain, Germany, Poland and Switzerland, with the coordination of Europol and Eurojust.

A conveyor belt for sexual exploitation

The investigation uncovered how hundreds of Chinese women were forced into prostitution after being lured to Europe by the promise of a legitimate job.

The perpetrators would use popular messaging apps in China to ensnare their victims. They would then smuggle their victims to Europe using forged EU ID documents and residence permits which were either falsified or obtained using falsified supporting documents.

Once in Europe, the victims were held in bondage and forced to work as prostitutes to pay off debts.

The criminals would advertise the women online and set them up in hotels across Europe, rotating their victims between EU countries.

Over the course of the three year-long investigation, over 3 000 online advertisements linked to this ring have been monitored by law enforcement. The investigators were able to identify over 200 victims so far, with the actual number believed to be much higher.

International police cooperation

With cells scattered across Europe, international police cooperation was central in breaking up this Chinese prostitution ring.

Initiated in 2020 by the Belgian authorities, this operation rapidly grew in scale, with targets being investigated simultaneously in multiple European jurisdictions.

In order to bring all these perpetrators to justice, an Operational Taskforce (OTF) was set up at Europol in December 2021 between Belgium, Spain, Poland and Switzerland. This OTF was later joined by Germany at the end of 2022.

Europol has been supporting this high-priority case from its onset in 2020. Its experts coordinated the operational activities, mapped out the different targets and their criminal activities and brought together the investigators on all sides to agree on a joint strategy.

Investigators from the OTF Member States were also deployed to Europol’s premises to work jointly with Europol on the case.

DeSantis said Locke was “an extraordinaire when it comes to First Amendment defamation.” What he didn’t say is that Locke is now representing Dominion Voting Systems, which is currently suing key Trumpworld figures—like Rudy Giuliani and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell—for pushing bogus claims that the company’s technology somehow stole the 2020 election from Trump.

Pedophile killed himself in Texas courtroom by drinking toxic amount of common food preservative, new report says

A man who died shortly after his guilty verdict was read inside a Texas courtroom last year committed suicide by consuming a toxic level of a common food preservative, a new report says.

On August 11, 2022, 57-year-old Edward Leclair was standing inside a courtroom in Denton, Texas. He was on trial for five counts of child sexual abuse. After just three and a half hours of deliberation, the jury had settled on a verdict: guilty. As the judge read the verdict, Leclair reportedly began to "chug" what appeared to be a "cloudy" liquid inside a water bottle.

Moments later, the bailiff found Leclair unconscious in his holding cell. Leclair was quickly rushed to the Medical City Denton hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 3 p.m. that same day.

Now, a new report from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined a cause of death. The "cloudy" liquid Leclair drank turned out to be sodium nitrite partially dissolved in water. Though sodium nitrite is a fairly common substance, often used as a food preservative for meat, large quantities of it can cause low blood pressure and limit the flow of oxygen throughout the body.

Security footage from the courthouse captured Leclair purchasing a bottle of water from a vending machine at around 7 a.m. on the day he died. His lawyer, Mike Howard, said at the time that Leclair likely knew what he was doing.

"Had [Leclair] waited another 30 seconds, he would have been in sheriff’s custody and not had access to that bottled water," Howard said. "He wouldn’t have been able to. So, you know, I think he knew."

Howard speculated that his client was motivated to kill himself because he faced a sentence of 100 years in prison. "[H]e made the decision to do what he did at the last moment," Howard said. The medical examiner has ruled Leclair's death a suicide.

White House responds to new Nord Stream investigation

Officials have categorically rejected reporting by a legendary US journalist who claimed Washington blew up the pipelines

US President Joe Biden’s administration on Wednesday blasted Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh for claiming that Washington was behind last year’s sabotage of Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, saying reporting by the veteran investigative journalist was “utterly false and complete fiction.”

White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson denied the report, hours after Hersh posted his article on Substack. The former New York Times journalist, who rose to fame when he exposed the My Lai massacre of Vietnamese civilians in 1969, wrote that US Navy divers planted explosives on the Nord Stream conduits under cover of the BALTOPS 22 NATO exercise last June in the Baltic Sea.

The bombs were remotely detonated three months later, rupturing three of the four Nord Stream natural gas pipelines, Hersh said, citing an unidentified “source with direct knowledge of the operational planning.” Biden personally approved the sabotage plan, according to the report, and the Norwegian navy helped pick the locations for placing the explosives.

Biden’s decision to destroy the pipelines came after more than nine months of secret debate among US national security officials, Hersh said. The president told reporters in early February of 2022 that the US would “bring an end” to Nord Stream 2 if Russian forces launched an offensive against Kiev. Asked how, exactly, that would be achieved, given that the pipeline was in Germany’s control, he said, “We will, I promise you, we’ll be able to do it.”

After the Nord Stream explosions in September, US officials denied involvement and suggested that Russia may have sabotaged its own pipelines. In light of Hersh’s reporting, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that the White House “must now comment on all these facts.”

Hersh has won several major awards for his newspaper and magazine articles, as well as his books. He was credited with exposing the Abu Ghraib torture scandal in 2004 and claimed in 2015 that President Barack Obama’s administration fabricated the 2011 killing of Osama bin Laden.

“Your account has been locked,” reads the notice when I log in. “We have determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules. Specifically for: 1. Violating one of our Rules.” What rule that is is not stated.

On Tuesday night, I was informed by Twitter that a story I broke on the platform about Antifa announcing plans on Twitter to attack a TPUSA event at the University of Oregon had violated its rules.

“Your account has been locked,” reads the notice when I log in. “We have determined that this account violated the Twitter Rules. Specifically for: 1. Violating one of our Rules.” What rule that is is not stated.

The tweet in question said exactly this: “#Antifa in Eugene, Ore. have announced plans to attack a @TPUSA campus event today featuring black speakers @Stephend176 & @AWatsonOLY. Antifa tell their members to wear black uniforms & masks (bloc), & to assault their targets. cc: @ellagirwin.”
