2 Former DNI Directors Say Report of Chinese Balloons Under Trump is Fake

On Sunday morning, former acting Director of the United States National Intelligence (DNI) Richard Grenell denied the recent report claiming Chinese Spy Balloons flew across the United States under former President Donald Trump.

“Yes, Chinese Spy Balloons Flew Over The U.S. When President Trump Was In Office Too,” the piece from Matt Novack published on Forbes read.

The article was extremely vague and weakly sourced.

In a tweet on Sunday, Grenell strongly denied the piece and hammered the Biden administration for pushing the fake news.

“Biden’s DoD is shamelessly using an anonymous source to say that Chinese balloons flew over the US under Trump – and the Trump team allowed it,” he tweeted. “It is a lie. We never heard this – ever. Congress should demand @SecDef tell the truth. Shame on @JakeSullivan46.”

Former Director of the United States National Intelligence John Ratcliffe also denied the report while joining Fox News host Maria Bartiromo for an interview on Sunday morning.

“Former ODNI John Ratcliffe just denied Biden admin claims Chinese sent 3 balloons into US on Trump’s watch: “I can refute it. It didn’t happen.” He said this was first time and “the damage is incalculable.” He also suggested Biden & his nat’l security team “compromised”” investigative journalist Paul Sperry said on Twitter.

As Biden continues to pat himself on the back for allowing the Chinese spy balloon to surveil the entire country before shooting it down, many are furious with his inaction.

During an interview on Fox News yesterday, Former Vice Chief of Staff of the United States Army and retired four-star General Jack Keane slammed Biden over his inaction.

He made these remarks on Fox News shortly after the U.S. military shot down the balloon over the Atlantic Ocean, following its passage over South Carolina.

“Remember, this was approaching the United States over water,” Keane said. “It was approaching the Aleutian Islands over water. And we had plenty of opportunity to take it down then. And that’s when it should have happened. We had to be tracking it from mainland China across the Pacific Ocean, and we had plenty of warning to put together an operation that we are conducting now on the east coast that should have been done there.”

Donald Trump Reveals Hit List of Political Enemies He Has Taken Out

Donald Trump has posted a list of Republican lawmakers who he "strongly opposed and fought against" and who have since retired or are due to leave office.

Included in the former president's hit list of critics are House Republicans and Senators who voted to impeach Trump for allegedly inciting the January 6 insurrection and who later announced they would not be running for re-election in the 2022 midterms.

The list, which Trump posted on Truth Social, also includes House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump who went on to lose their midterm or GOP primary races against candidates endorsed by the former president, such as Wyoming's Liz Cheney, Michigan's Peter Meijer and South Carolina's Tom Rice.

It is not just recent enemies that Trump decided to include. Also in the group of those he "fought against " is former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, one of the most vocal critics of the former president in the upper chamber who announced he would not be running for re-election in the 2018 midterm elections.

Trump, who has already announced he will run for president again in 2024, also included on the list former Ohio Governor John Kasich, who dropped out of the 2016 Republican presidential primary and has since become a prominent Trump critic.

Massachusetts' Charlie Baker, another Republican governor who frequently criticized Trump, is on the list after confirming he would be retiring from office. Baker was succeeded by Democrat Maura Healey in November's midterm election.

List of People Trump 'Strongly Opposed and Fought Against'

U.S. Senate

•     Bob Corker — Retired

•     Jeff Flake — Retired

•     Ben Sasse — Resigned

•     Pat Toomey — Retired

•     Richard Burr — Retired

U.S. House

•     Liz Cheney — Defeated

•     Adam Kinzinger — Retired

•     Tom Rice — Defeated

•     Peter Meijer — Defeated

•     Jamie Herrera Beutler — Defeated

•     Fred Upton — Retired

•     Anthony Gonzalez — Retired

•     John Katko — Retired

•     Justin Amash — Retired

•     Mark Sanford — Defeated

Governors

•     Charlie Baker — Retired

•     John Kasich — Defeated

Trump posted the list while defending himself from accusations that it was his endorsed candidates, which included extremists and 2020 election deniers, that cost the GOP in November's general elections.

Many people, including some within the GOP, blamed the wave of Trump-backed candidates who lost their midterm election across the country for the GOP failing to retake control of the Senate and only achieving a slim majority in the House.

Trump posts article urging him to ditch GOP, run as third-party candidate

In a previous Truth Social post on January 1, Trump listed all his endorsed candidates who went on to win their Senate races, such as J.D. Vance in Ohio and Markwayne Mullin in Oklahoma, as well as a number of incumbents who would be heavily favored to win their elections regardless.

In another social media post, Trump wrote "it wasn't my fault" the GOP underperformed in November's elections and blamed those in the Republican Party who advocated for severe abortion restrictions after the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

"It was the 'abortion issue,' poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions, even in the case of Rape, Incest, or Life of the Mother, that lost large numbers of Voters," Trump said.

"Also, the people that pushed so hard, for decades, against abortion, got their wish from the U.S. Supreme Court, & just plain disappeared, not to be seen again."

The Republican National Committee has been contacted for comment.

==Biden admin removing most surveillance balloons at southern border due to cost: sources=

Sources told Fox News that the number of balloons is being reduced from 12 to just four

The Biden administration is significantly reducing the number of aerostats being used to monitor the overwhelmed southern border, with multiple sources telling Fox News that it is due to a lack of funding – with a majority already being taken out of service.

Last year there were 12 aerostats, nicknamed "Eyes in the Sky" by Customs and Border Protection (CBP), along the southern border. CBP sources tell Fox that only four remain now, all in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.

CBP’s Air and Marine Operations uses the aerostats for detection and monitoring along the southern border and coastal regions. The Department of Defense, which agreed to spend $52 million to continue operating aerostats through to the end of FY 2022, which ended in October, after the Department of Homeland Security cut funding for the program.

Last year, the Biden administration added a balloon in Nogales, Arizona. A CBP spokesman told local media that the technology has been used along the border since 2013, that the blimp in question has a range of 3,000 feet above ground level and allows Border Patrol to "maintain visual awareness of border activity in the United States for longer periods of time."

But with that funding gone, authorities are phasing out most of the balloons along the border and sources said only a handful will remain through March 31st.

"The U.S. Border Patrol began reducing the number of Tactical Aerostats it deploys along the southwest border on January 1, 2023," A CBP spokesperson confirmed to Fox News. "Although the Border Patrol’s number of aerostats will be reduced, the Border Patrol will continue to use aerostats throughout FY 2023."

The spokesperson said that Border Patrol would use surveillance technology and "explore new technology to increase surveillance of the border region."

"Currently, the Border Patrol has successfully deployed 195 Autonomous Surveillance Towers with more than 80 additional planned for deployment and 256 Remote Video Surveillance System upgrades; 75 Remote Video Surveillance System legacy sensor towers will be upgraded in FY 2023," they said.

The spokesperson also said that CBP will continue to invest in aerostats and plans to expand deployments to coastal border regions.

But the reduction of balloons at the land border comes as the U.S. continues to be wracked by an ongoing migrant crisis. There were more than 2.3 million encounters in FY 2022, and nearly 600,000 gotaways – illegal immigrants who slipped past Border Patrol agents.

Several sources told Fox News that the loss of the aerostats would have an immediate negative impact on border security, and warned that cartels and smugglers would take advantage.

"You can never beat persistent situational awareness," one Border Patrol agents told Fox News. "They are a great tool."

Congress should investigate ‘gotaways’ to expose ‘vulnerability’ of border: Rodney ScottVideo

Some warned that it could artificially reduce "gotaway" numbers as agents won’t be able to even spot illegal immigrants evading them, while others pointed out that the U.S. is pouring billions to Ukraine while simultaneously ending what they see as a vital asset at the U.S. border for cost reasons.

The Border Patrol union slammed the move to wind down the balloons, arguing that it was an important tool and said the move contradicted President Biden’s remarks at the State of the Union, where he touted his administration’s border efforts.

"Aerostats have been one of the most successful tools deployed on the border. It allows us to see what’s crossing into the US illegally, guide us to the location, and apprehend both people and contraband, including fentanyl," the union said in a statement. "The loss of these tools will be a blow to border security, making the American people less safe. This move defies logic and is directly contrary to Biden’s comments last night during the State of the Union which proves he does nothing but peddle rhetoric."

Rodney Scott, who served as Border Patrol chief during both the Trump and Biden administrations, called it a "kick in the gut" for agents and rejected the idea that there wasn’t money for the program.

"This administration doesn't really, truly care about securing the border. They care about optics by dropping these aerostats," he said. "So they're going to lose one more visual into what's really going on. And the money's there. They just redirected it to soft sided facilities, processing and humanitarian efforts. When I say humanitarian, I mean carrying and feeding and transporting illegal aliens."

The move is likely to fuel Republican criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of the border crisis. Biden called on Congress to pass immigration measures in his state of the union, and cited numbers suggesting recent border measures were working.

But his remarks were met by heckles by some Republicans, who yelled at him to "secure the border."

"You got it," he responded.
