Biden Ordered Shootdown Of Unidentified Object Over Alaska Deemed "Threat To Civilian Aviation"

A US official has said Friday that the US military engaged and shot down an unidentified object flying over Alaska on Thursday night, upon the order given by President Biden.

It's unconfirmed whether the unidentified object was a balloon, "but it was traveling at an altitude that made it a potential threat to civilian aircraft," according to The New York Times, which first reported it Friday afternoon.

The president gave the shootdown order "out of an abundance of caution," the unnamed US official said, coming on the heels of the dramatic Chinese 'spy' balloon shootdown off the American east coast last Saturday.

The scant details given to the Times didn't reveal any information that might point to the nature of the flying object, or if it was possibly a weather or spy balloon (China still insists last week's balloon was purely for weather research purposes, and that it blew off course).

A separate official quoted in the new report commenting on the second object to breach US airspace in a week called it a "fast-moving" situation, and that it's still developing - thus more details are expected to soon trickle out.

"It is not clear if the object was from an adversarial power, or a commercial or research operation that has gone astray, the official said," NYT reports.

UN condemns executions of Russian POWs by Ukrainians

The UN human rights watchdog is aware of a new graphic video purportedly showing the execution of Russian POWs by Ukrainians and has raised the issue with Kiev

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is aware of recently-emerged footage apparently showing the execution of Russian soldiers who had surrendered by Ukrainian troops, a spokeswoman for the UN watchdog, Marta Hurtado, has said.

“We have raised concerns about the treatment of prisoners of war, including alleged killings of POWs by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense,” Hurtado told TASS in a statement on Friday.

The graphic video in question surfaced earlier this week, filmed by an armed individual speaking Ukrainian and demanding answers from three men in military uniforms lying on the ground. After failing to elicit a coherent response from them, the man shoots one of the men in the head multiple times at point blank range.

One of the men, lying motionless on the ground, also has visible blood around his head, apparently getting shot and killed before the video started. A fellow Ukrainian soldier appeared to try to reason with the gunman, pointing out that the third captive was holding a grenade. The killer briefly showed his face at the very end of the video, concluding it with an obscenity and ‘Glory to Ukraine’ slogan, which is commonly associated with World War II-era Nazi collaborators but is widely used in present-day Ukraine.

Additional footage seemingly filmed in the immediate aftermath of the incident showed the killer trying to provide excuses to justify his actions. The UN is aware of this footage as well, Hurtado said, adding that none of the excuses actually have merit.

“We are also aware of another video that has appeared on social media platforms that includes additional footage of the original incident and also appears to show a Ukrainian soldier confessing [to] the killing and trying to justify it by alleging that the victims refused to surrender or that they were part of the Wagner Group military and security contractors fighting on behalf of the Russian Federation,” the spokeswoman said. “These excuses do not provide justification for the soldier's actions under international humanitarian law.”

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the killing of unarmed soldiers who surrendered is a “widespread practice” by Kiev’s troops, and multiple incidents of this sort have occurred amid the ongoing conflict, with some of them published online by the killers themselves. The Russian Investigative Committee said on Thursday that the footage appeared to show the recent murder of three Russian POWs by “Ukrainian nationalists,” pledging to investigate further and identify the perpetrators.

Philadelphia Quaker school sex-ed teacher says 'porn literacy' necessary for students who are 'sexual beings' since birth

"Every single one of those kids is a sexual being," the teacher said. "They have been since birth, and at every age and stage, we can offer them age appropriate, transformative sexuality education."

Video footage has emerged on social media of the Sexuality Education Coordinator at an exclusive Pennsylvania private school saying that children are sexual beings from the moment they are born.

Al Vernacchio, who made the comments during an award presentation last August, has been the pre K - 12 sex-ed teacher at Friends' Central, a private Quaker school in Philadelphia, for twenty years.

In a clip of his speech shared on Twitter by parent rights advocate Meghan Brock, Vernacchio said he is responsible for the sexuality education of all the school's students, from three-year-olds in nursery school to the 12th graders who are turning 18 and preparing to leave high school.

"That's a huge range, but every single one of those kids is a sexual being," said Vernacchio. "They have been since birth, and at every age and stage, we can offer them age appropriate, transformative sexuality education."

Vernacchio then told the audience that it's not enough that he alone educates these young minds, but rather that it is the job of everyone to step up to the task.

"It's not enough that I teach them; we have to teach them" he said. "Part of my message today is that we all, no matter what else we do in life, need to find a way to be sexuality educators for the kids in our lives. If we don't step up, others will, and many of those others don't see wholeness and freedom the way we do."

Vernacchio advocated for children to be "porn-literate," and argued that children are exposed to porn, whether society likes it or not, so they might as well be taught the critical thinking necessary to understand its messages, according to an article in City Life magazine.

According to the the description of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation event from the group’s YouTube channel, in "a cultural moment where 'Don't Say Gay' and anti-trans bills are being advanced in state legislatures, and fundamental sexual rights – like access to safe abortion procedures – are being threatened, age-appropriate, value-informed, medically-accurate, progressive sexuality education can be a powerful tool for exploring issues of personal identity, body autonomy, pleasure equity, and sexual justice."

Vernacchio said one of the things to celebrate about today’s culture is that children have so many more options open to them beyond "simply whether they feel like a boy or a girl, or whether they identify as gay, straight or bisexual. Our understandings of both gender and orientation have greatly expanded in our culture."

He said that the ever-increasing list of identity labels children have to choose from allows young people "to find a more precise way to describe their own experience."

"What it's also brought about is greater latitude, and experimenting with different identities. It's not uncommon today for young people to try out different labels and different pronouns and different relationships in search of their truth."

Vernacchio did not mention how "experimenting with different identities" and trying out "different labels and pronouns" often results in children being chemically castrated and having healthy body parts amputated in pediatric gender clinics all over the U.S.

"The classroom has always been a place to spark wonder, imagination, transformation, and growth in young people. Good education leads learners out of oppression and into possibility," the event description read.

In 2021, Vernacchio and Friends' Central were awarded a $250,000 grant to launch a project called "Healthy Relationships and Consent Education," according to The Inquirer. The sex-ed teacher expanded the notion of consent to include any situation where we interact with another person's property, body, or reputation.

Vernacchio gave a TED Talk in 2012 that went viral in which he replaced the traditional baseball metaphor for sex that refers to "scoring" and "stealing bases," with a metaphor about ordering pizza which involves "shared pleasure, discussion and agreement, fulfillment and enjoyment."

The FBI seized one document with classified markings and six additional pages from former Vice President Mike Pence’s Indiana home.

FBI agents on Friday descended on Mike Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home to search for classified documents.

The FBI was searching former Vice President Mike Pence’s Indiana home Friday, looking for any classified documents that might be in the house, a senior law-enforcement official told NBC News.

Mike Pence is currently on the west coast with his daughter who just gave birth, according to CNN.

According to CNN, feds are also expected to search Mike Pence’s DC office.

FBI agents were seen leaving Pence’s home on Friday.

Last month it was reported that a “small number of documents bearing classified markings” were discovered at former Vice President Mike Pence’s Carmel, Indiana home.

According to CNN, Mike Pence had one of his lawyers search his residence for classified materials “out of an abundance of caution.”

“Vice President Pence was unaware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents at his personal residence,” Pence’s rep. Greg Jacob wrote. “Vice President Pence understands the high importance of protecting sensitive and classified information and stands ready and willing to cooperate fully with the National Archives and any appropriate inquiry.”

Chuck Grassley: Whistleblowers Say FBI ‘Improperly’ Shut Down Hunter’s Alleged Criminal Probe

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) stated Thursday that whistleblowers have suggested personnel at FBI’s Washington Field Office “improperly” closed alleged criminal conduct info related to Hunter Biden, who is a lawyer and former lobbyist turned artist.

Grassley, who spoke before the “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government,” relayed shady information from Senate whistleblowers about the FBI’s apparent investigation into the Biden family.

Among several allegations, Grassley said whistleblowers have told his office that FBI personnel at the Washington Field Office “improperly ordered information to be closed by the FBI related to Hunter Biden’s potential criminal conduct in October 2020 — just before the election — even though it was verified or verifiable.”

The revelation of the FBI’s handling of alleged criminal conduct related to Hunter comes as Grassley believes former FBI “point man” Timothy Thibault “shut down” a probe into Hunter’s laptop that is likely unrelated to the ongoing criminal probe concerning reported tax fraud by the president’s son.

Hunter’s former businesses partner, Tony Bobulinski, who personally met with Joe and Hunter Biden in 2017 for an hour to discuss “the Bidens’ family business plans” for a Chinese energy deal, handed over intelligence about the Chinese deal to Thibault, who in turn reportedly buried the information. The deal included ten percent “held by H for the big guy,” who Bobulinski said was Joe Biden.

Hunter is currently under investigation for tax and gun violations. It is unknown if Justice Department prosecutors will have the opportunity to charge Hunter with any alleged crimes with “voluminous evidence” found on the laptop.

In January, House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked Thibault to “immediately cooperate” with his investigation into the Biden family by appearing for a transcribed interview into allegations of misconduct against Thibault, Breitbart News reported.

Australian Federal government seeks to suppress court documents examining torture-resistance program

The federal government is urgently seeking to suppress court documents examining a torture-resistance training program that a former soldier claims breached his human rights.

Medically retired soldier Damien De Pyle is suing the Commonwealth after claiming last year that he was forced to participate in humiliating sexual acts as part of the program.

On Tuesday, Federal Court judge Sarah Derrington suppressed court documents, which prevented the ABC from obtaining access to Mr De Pyle's claim.

The registrar noted these were "restricted documents … not approved for release to non-parties" even though the government had not formally applied for a suppression order and no hearing had been scheduled.

Justice Derrington's decision came after the Commonwealth's lawyers told the court they intended to lodge an application to block public access to the material.

The Department of Defence declined to comment.

Mr De Pyle last year blew the whistle on the Conflict After Capture course in an interview with The Guardian, in which he claimed the course left him with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Defence has long defended the program, which is designed to prepare soldiers for imprisonment and torture during a conflict.

But Mr De Pyle said the training he undertook at Queensland's Kokoda defence force base in 2019 was unnecessarily cruel.

He claimed that during a mock interrogation he was ordered to commit a sexual act on child's doll using a sex toy and told that one of his fellow soldiers would be executed if he refused to comply.

Mr De Pyle, who is Catholic, also claims he was instructed to renounce his Christian faith and simulate masturbation on a Bible.

He said soldiers in the program were deprived of food, water, and sleep.

In 2016, former SAS member Evan Donaldson told the ABC he was sexually assaulted as part of the training.
