I do not know who is in charge of messaging for our side, but right now every fucking thing bad is being blamed on Trump and nothing at all is sticking to the Biden Obama Clinton faggots.

Documents and balloons and UFOS and trains and planes

I am ready to see some fucking justice

cannot make it any longer

Brian Krassenstein

@krassenstein

I've seen a lot of conspiracy theories (by the usual right-wing suspects) regarding the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment and explosion, so I thought I'd provide some clarity here in a longer post:

Falsehood #1: The EPA and FEMA should be involved.

The EPA is involved! In fact they have been testing the water and air quality consistency for at least a week now. They have also installed a dam and water bypass at Sulphur Run to prevent further contamination of downstream waters 3 days ago. As for FEMA, there is no real reason for them to be there. FEMA isn't really required since there has been no damage to private property or lives.

Falsehood #2: The Air quality in East Palestine is dangerous.

The controlled burn of the chemicals is complete. During the burn it WAS dangerous and thus parts of the town were evacuated. The air quality is being monitored by the EPA and state officials and it has been deemed safe.

Falsehood #3: Journalists are being arrested for reporting on the disaster

One journalist, from NewsNation, Evan Lambert, was detained and arrested. He wasn't arrested for asking questions or simply doing his job like Marjorie Taylor Greene and other conspiracy theorists have stated, but for an argument/altercation that took place. He was one of numerous journalists on the scene, and was the ONLY one who had been arrested. He has been released.

Falsehood #4: This is somehow Biden's fault.

It was Trump who rolled back Obama-era regulations on train braking systems, which could have possibly prevented this incident. Also remember that the Biden Admin has passed a major infrastructure bill and signed it into law.

So, yes, this derailment certainly has caused harm to the environment, and we need better regulations as well as systems in place to stop something like this from happening again, but this is NOT "the worst environmental disaster in US history" like some people on Twitter are claiming. It's not even close. Most of the damage has already been done and is for the most part contained.
