JPMorgan Inks Agreement With Zelensky on Rebuilding Ukraine's Infrastructure, Seeds $20BN+

Despite some US officials such as CENTCOM chief Gen. Mark Milley last year saying they expect the war in Ukraine likely to be protracted in "years", not months, which as the conflict is about to enter its 2nd year is proving accurate enough thus far, major banks are already lining up to fund Ukraine's rebuilding efforts, which is going to be vast and extraordinarily costly - and in reality could take decades.

Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with bankers from JPMorgan Chase & Co as part of broader talks focused on both reconstructing the war-ravaged country and enduring the extreme financial tumult of the war.

Zelensky signed a memorandum of understanding with America's largest bank at the close of the talks, with CEO Jamie Dimon announcing "We are proud of our long-standing support of Ukraine and committed to doing our part to lift up the country and its people."

Dimon then pledged "The full resources of JPMorgan Chase are available to Ukraine as it charts its post-conflict path to growth."

This as global ratings agency Moody's also is clearly foreseeing longer-lasting challenges as part of a drawn out conflict with Russia, on Friday downgrading Ukraine's sovereign rating to 'Ca' from 'Caa3'.

Fox Business cited sources privy to the meetings to reveal they "discussed the creation of a fund seeded with $20 billion to $30 billion in private capital," also as part of broader efforts to coach the Ukrainian government on how to attract private capital.

A statement by Zelensky's office hailed in an English statement the meeting "with senior members of the largest investment bank in the world, JP Morgan," and that others "took part via video link in one of the largest annual investment summits organized by JP Morgan, attended by 200 largest corporations, investors, and financial companies."

JPMorgan has going back to 2010 been deeply involved in helping Ukraine weather financial crises which predate the war, and last year led a national debt restructuring of more than $20 billion.

Dick Durbin, Lindsey Graham Propose ‘DREAM Act’ Amnesty for Nearly 2M Illegal Aliens

Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have proposed their “DREAM Act” amnesty that would provide green cards and, eventually, naturalized American citizenship to nearly two million illegal aliens.

Graham and Durbin, who hold powerful positions on the Senate Judiciary Committee, reintroduced the amnesty after repeatedly proposing the plan since 2017.

According to current estimates, the amnesty would allow almost two million illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to secure green cards and, eventually, naturalized American citizenship.

Graham said DACA illegal aliens “represent a class of illegal immigrants that have much public support because they were minors brought here by their parents and America has become their home.”

“To provide relief to this population, we must first convince Americans that the unending wave of illegal immigration will stop,” Graham continued.

Durbin suggested that amnesty for DACA illegal aliens “is a matter of simple American fairness and justice” before thanking Graham “for his continued partnership in this important bipartisan effort.”

As Breitbart News reported in 2017, a DACA amnesty would open a surge of chain migration — where newly naturalized citizens can bring an unlimited number of foreign relatives to the U.S. — ranging from 10 million to 19 million foreign nationals.

A prior Breitbart News analysis found that a DACA amnesty would cost American taxpayers some $115 billion by opening Obamacare rolls to newly legalized illegal aliens. Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated that such an amnesty would cost taxpayers $26 billion.

That same CBO report suggests that about one in five DACA illegal aliens, after an amnesty, would end up on food stamps, while at least one in seven would go on Medicaid.

In 2013, CBO analysis stated that the “Gang of Eight” amnesty plan would “slightly” push down wages for American workers. A 2020 CBO analysis stated that “immigration has exerted downward pressure on the wages of relatively low-skilled workers who are already in the country, regardless of their birthplace.”

Former Eurobodalla Shire mayor Liz Innes pleads guilty to cultivating 'copious' cannabis crop

Former Eurobodalla Shire mayor, Liz Innes, has pleaded guilty to cultivating and possessing cannabis after a discovery by police at her New South Wales South Coast property.

Key points:

Police allege the crop was worth up to $258,400 and "excessive for personal use"

Facts tendered in court said Innes was "annoyed and belligerent" when speaking to authorities, but became "more courteous" once police began taking the plants

Innes will face Moruya Local Court for sentencing on February 27

The 54-year-old entered her plea at Moruya Local Court on Friday February 10.

Police facts tendered to the court state officers were patrolling Runnyford, west of Batemans Bay, when they came across a large plot of plants they suspected to be cannabis near a house later identified as Innes's home.

A female, later identified as Innes, exited the house and told the officers who approached "they are mine".

Police observed "a copious amount of healthy cannabis plants in various stages of maturity" that were planted in pots, garden beds and a tree stump.

The police documents state Innes was "annoyed and belligerent" when speaking to authorities and at one point said she was the former mayor of Eurobodalla Shire Council.

Authorities seized almost 80 plants that ranged from 30 centimetres to two metres in size.

They were estimated to be worth between $129,000 and $258,400,

The court documents stated that Innes became "much more courteous and polite" once police began removing the plants.

The agreed facts said Innes commented on "how good a job she had done growing the plants".

She also said she had planted, watered and cared for the plants and intended on harvesting them for herself and her family to use.

Police stated they were of the firm belief that the amount of plants in Innes's possession were excessive for personal use.

Police requested an order for the destruction of the seized prohibited plants.

Innes will face Batemans Bay Local Court on February 27 for sentencing.
