Fun fact, Kiki Dee's part was originally written for Dusty Springfield, but she got sick around the time Elton wanted to record it so he had to find another female singer. Kiki was actually one of his backup singers on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album and he brought her in to sing the part and essentially boosted her career after that. Kiki even said that she gained a whole lot of confidence as a performer after the first time her and Elton performed it live.
