The city of Minneapolis is working with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) USA to become one of the country's first child-friendly cities.

Minneapolis aims to become UNICEF's first 'child friendly city' in U.S.

The city started the process in 2020. Three years later, UNICEF recognized Minneapolis as a Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) candidate. Minneapolis is the second city in the U.S. to reach this point — just behind Houston.

Minnesota's Zambonis must be all electric by 2025 if Bill passes.

HF 1716 presented Monday to the Committee on Commerce Finance and Policy says that:

"After January 1, 2025, a new ice resurfacing machine sold, offered for sale, or distributed in or into Minnesota must be powered solely by electricity."

The law would go into effect after being passed.
