U.S. EPA administer to visit East Palestine
EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) – U.S. EPA Administer Michael Regan says he will be in East Palestine Thursday.
Regan posted on Twitter that he will be heading to the village and said he is going to “hold Norfolk Southern accountable.”
Regan said he wants to hear from residents in their homes, visit the site of the derailment, and meet with emergency responders from the state.
U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; JD Vance, R-Ohio; Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania and John Fetterman, D-Pennsylvania have joined together and sent a letter to Regan expressing their concerns about the derailment and the controlled release of vinyl chloride.
WKBN will provide updates on Regan’s meeting. He is also scheduled to speak to the media this afternoon.

Local attorney to hold meeting for East Palestine residents
LISBON, Ohio (WKBN)- Attorney Dave Betras is holding a public meeting in Lisbon.
He urges anyone living within a 50 to 60 mile radius to attend, along with anyone who has been adversely affected by the derailment.
It’s happening at the Shale Tavern & Grille on State Route 154 from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

Injury firm sues Norfolk Southern over train derailment
(WKBN) – Another class action lawsuit has been filed against Norfolk Southern concerning the train derailment in East Palestine.
The latest was filed on Wednesday by Morgan & Morgan in the U.S. Northern District Court of Ohio. Morgan & Morgan is a nationwide injury firm.
The lawsuit claims Norfolk Southern’s efforts to clean up the derailment worsened the situation and that the company’s efforts to clean the spill by setting vinyl chloride on fire created a chemical warfare agent.
“I’m not sure Norfolk Southern could have come up with a worse plan to address this disaster,” said attorney John Morgan. “The lawsuit alleges that Norfolk Southern made it worse by essentially blasting the town with chemicals as they focused on restoring train service and protecting their shareholders.”
Morgan & Morgan is seeking medical monitoring and damages.
