Is having an "industrial base" actually good for ordinary people? It seems like when the majority or very many are on productive homesteads, family farms, and in small communities it is pretty good for regular people and families.

I was upset for a while about jobs going to China. Then I started to feel sorry for the Chinese, especially the Christians.

Personally, I'd like to live in conditions where I can survive well without technologies I'll never completely master that require long supply chains. How about living in places where you can either repair everything yourself and/or someone you know very well has the requisite skills locally?

Also, being the "bleeding edge" adopter of a new technology is literally making yourself a guinea pig.

God, family, local community. The most important things. Technology?Technology- isn't even on the list for me.
