NCSWIC stands for the National Council of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators. The organization was established in 2005 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) to promote and support interoperable communications among emergency responders across the United States.
NCSWIC is composed of Statewide Interoperability Coordinators (SWICs) from each state, territory, and the District of Columbia. The SWICs are responsible for leading the coordination and implementation of interoperable communications in their respective jurisdictions, including planning, training, and exercising to ensure that emergency responders can communicate effectively during a crisis.
The NCSWIC provides a forum for SWICs to share best practices, collaborate on interoperability issues, and provide guidance to the OEC on policies, standards, and strategies related to emergency communications interoperability.
