I said believing (anything) is irrational.

That was a statement of observation.

You took that to mean that believing was invalid - which is not what I said.

You can believe something just as much if it's true as if it not true.

I never said believing didn't serve a purpose, psychologically - it just has not rational basis.

As the old saying goes: "There are no Atheists in foxholes"
