#OTD in 1945, USS Saratoga (CV-3) was set ablaze after six Japanese planes scored five hits on the carrier within three minute. 123 sailors were lost and another 192 wounded. 40 of the carrier's aircraft were destroyed. The crew got the fires under control and saved the ship.
