Leon Wilmot, Yuma County Sheriff: When we speak with our Port of Entry personnel, they are the ones that typically are the screeners when juveniles comes across from Mexico to go to school each and every day. The cartels exploit them by asking them to carry Fentanyl and other narcotics across the border when they are walking into the United States.

Biggs [to president/CEO of Yuma Medical Center]: You are actually expending community hospital funds to actually move people [illegals] to family members, or elsewhere around the country, and there are many that you are sending that you don't even know their destination.

Dr. Trenschel, Yuma Reginal Medical Center: When a patient comes into the hospital, we have to provide them with the safe discharge for CMS…a lot of that includes tracking down their family members, we've had to fly them to their families, we've had to air-ambulance individuals for higher levels of care…

Biggs: And you're not being compensated by the federal government or anyone else.

Dr. Trenschel: We've had patients that have had to delay elective surgery because other urgent migrant patients have come who needed emergent surgery. We've had to delay maternity patients with planned inductions, because we've simply been out of space in our maternity unit with migrant patients who've had deliveries…many of them coming in at the same time for deliveries.

Jonathan Lines, Yuma County Supervisor: As far as cartel violence, the sheriff and I have been made aware of over two hundred assassinations in San Luis Rio, Colorado, where the cartels are targeting law enforcement. This last weekend we had a law enforcement officer shot, and then retribution the following night.

Sheriff Wilmot: Because of their constraints [placed on ICE and Border Patrol by Biden] I have actually cross-deputized our federal partners…to be able to seek state charges against individuals that the US Attorney will not charge for crimes.
