When I disabuse people here of their TV ideas about America and show them what is really going on, after the initial shock wears off, they almost always ask the same question: "But Americans have guns! Why are they letting those things happen?"
Once, about ten years ago, I taught a business English class to a group of engineers. I showed them naked body scanners.
