Victor Davis Hanson | George S. Patton: American Ajax42 minutes

VDH is brilliant with the history of war and strategy. Excellent lecture on Patton and his war knowledge, strategy & stories and how he was blocked many times in WWII. We wouldn’t have lost 100s of 1000s soldiers if they had listened to him.

Its a real story of how the military and our society treat and have treated the most brilliant military and warrior minds of all time.

VDH discussed Eisenhower & the higher ups in the military planning, that denied many of Patton’s plans that proved, if it had been done we would have won the war much earlier many times over. VDH said Eisenhower etc went with all the failed generals plans, that lengthened the war and were responsible for the death of our soldiers. I guess wokeness infiltrated our society much earlier.

He mentions Trump at the end saying he in effect has the same brains and mind of the great General Patton and likewise was blocked by society.

This lecture reminds me of all the generals around Trump, so perhaps if its true Trump was Patton, he had to learn the final lesson in his first term. He will never make that mistake again in his second term.

Xenophon wrote that a successful general “must be resourceful, active, careful, hardy, and quick-witted; he must be both gentle and brutal, at once straightforward and designing, capable of both caution and surprise, lavish and rapacious, generous and mean, skillful in defense and attack.” This third CCA of the 2019-2020 academic year will consider the lives and characters of some of America’s greatest generals.
