If Turkey and Syria was a Directed EQ attack, then one has to look for those that have close ties with Russia.

That would mobilize people towards that part of the world to build up a resistance to an attack from China.
Indonesia is kind of a "shield" for the Aussies, makes sense to vie for full control of those islands.
