Air Force relieves 6 officers at nuclear base after lapses

WASHINGTON (AP) — Six Air Force officers who were in charge of caring for the infrastructure, fuel and logistics support for a North Dakota nuclear missile base were relieved of command due to a loss of confidence in their ability to carry out their responsibilities, the Air Force said.

The officers include two commanders and four subordinate officers at Minot Air Force Base, including 5th Mission Support Group commander Col. Gregory Mayer and 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron Maj. Jonathan Welch, a defense official said. The four subordinate officers were not identified.

The official said the dismissals were based on non-compliance with safety regulations for vehicles and equipment, and while the decision to relieve the officers of command was based on the results of one safety inspection, the units had not been compliant for some time. The official was not authorized to discuss details of the firings publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The official said the dismissals reflect the tougher line the Air Force has taken on discipline within its nuclear ranks, which have weathered a series of safety concerns and controversies.

In 2007, a B-52 Stratofortress took off from Minot mistakenly loaded with six nuclear-armed AGM-129 cruise missiles and flew across the country to Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. In 2014, a nuclear safety inspections cheating scandal at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana embroiled scores of missileers and officers, and in 2016, investigators busted an LSD drug ring at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. Minot, Malmstrom and F.E. Warren are home to a total of 450 silo-based Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles.

“You find very quickly that people are afraid to be around you because they can see the government being upset about what you’re talking about, and they can see repercussions coming, and of course they have happened and will continue to happen and, ultimately, I believe that there will be some kind of terminal point where they decide that they’re not just, just not gonna put up with this pest anymore and that’s gonna be the end of me.”

“You can’t go to church. You can’t go to cocktail parties because everybody else is sitting around talking about the weather or “oh what school did you go to” and you, when you have done the research and arrived at some of the answers that I know to be true now, those people become like Kindergarten children. They’re not in the real world and I can’t engage in that kind of a conversation so you really find yourself in another world that has nothing to do with all of the rest of the people who are running around engaged in their activities that they think are so important to them. And to them, they really are, but to me they’ve lost the reality of what really is important and they are about to lose the freedom to even discover those things, at this point.”

Bill Gates Says US Won't Be Able to Limit China's Microchip Industry

The Microsoft founder strongly believes in the potential of US-China cooperation and does not think a military escalation is likely.

Bill Gates claimed on Thursday that the US would not be able to achieve the desired result and limit Beijing's ambitions through procurement restrictions - which include a recent attempt to get the chip industry back under US control.

Gates does not see much sense in restricting chip sales to China, as the Asian nation will be able to catch up with the US rather quickly at this scale, and expressed his desire for Washington and Beijing to cooperate closer with each other.

Regarding a possible military conflict between China and the US within the next decade, Gates argues that restricting Chinese chip sales and manufacturing would only warn Beijing about the intention for military escalation and thus further damage bilateral relations and provide China with advance warning of a future threat. The billionaire personally does not believe in a military conflict between the two countries.

"So if you really think there’s gonna be a war in the next decade… which I hope never happens, I don’t think will happen," Gates told to the audience.

However, his ambiguous remark thatif one assumes "we can avoid big nuclear wars… life will be better 10 years from now, 20 years from now"speaks for itself.

Earlier, in 2019, the US obliged one of China's largest electronics makers, Huawei, and other manufacturers to apply for permission to buy technology from the Commerce Department. This effectively left the Chinese giant without 5G chips.

In October 2022, the US went even further and not only expanded the list of companies covered by the restrictions, but also banned many foreign manufacturers from supplying Chinese customers. The Dutch company ASML, by far the largest manufacturer of photolithography equipment, also fell under the restrictions.

"I don't think the US will ever be successful at preventing China from having great chips," the businessman opined.

Photolithography is one of the most complex technologies in the world, without which the production of contemporary microchips is impossible. It requires decades of R&D and billions of dollars in investment. Only a few companies around the globe manufacture such equipment.

The sanctions are meant to prevent China from using modern microelectronic equipment in the military and may drastically hit the civilian electronics market as well.

Excess Deaths Among Young Adults Soar to Record High

Excess deaths among young adults are soaring to record highs as unexpected mortality rates continue to spike each month, the latest data shows.

The latest figures for December have just been published a show a large rise in excess mortality rates among adults under the age of 45.

December saw a staggering increase in excess death that was 43 percent higher than expected.

The figure is more than double the number of excess deaths for November and almost four times higher than in October.

Edward Dowd, a top equity investment executive and former leading BlackRock portfolio manager, has been examining the epidemic of sudden deaths which began in early 2021.

Dowd has been analyzing the monthly data for deaths from the Society of Actuaries (SOA)

The SOA is a global organization for actuaries that gathers data in the United States and other countries in order to measure and manage risk.

Actuaries help leaders and companies make strategic decisions for their future based on risk assessment and are used by businesses including insurance firms, banks, and investors.

While the latest available data only shows soaring excess deaths up to December, Dowd says SOA insiders have told him that the figures for January and February also show major spikes that are even larger again.

In late 2022, Dowd joined Steve Bannon on “The War Room” to discuss the data on excess mortality rates that was available at the time.

Dowd had previously on “The War Room” back in March 2022 with an explosive report on the excess number of deaths recorded in the U.S. since the introduction of the mandatory vaccines.

Back in March Dowd said that U.S. millennials, aged 25-44, experienced a record-setting 84% increase in excess mortality during the final four months of 2021.

In December, Dowd revealed the latest numbers from August revealed an excess mortality rate of 36% for millennials.

Dowd later told “The War Room” that significant increases in the U.S. disability rate are directly related to the COVID-19 shots.

Ed Dowd told the War Room audience, “So, just to give you some idea of the number I said on your show a couple of weeks ago and to Senator Ron Johnson, there was about 1.2 million we calculated in September.

“It’s now about 1.7 million starting about February 2021 thru November of 2022.

“1.7 [million] employed people have become disabled and that’s a big number.”

Last week, Dowd discussed his research on “Tucker Carlson Originals.”

Dowd told host Tucker Carlson about the unexplained increases in death rates and disability numbers, which he blames on vaccines.

“The only thing that changed was a mass vaccination campaign and mandates,” Ed Dowd told Tucker.
