Trump can be sued for Jan 6, Justice Department says.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump can be sued by injured Capitol Police officers and Democratic lawmakers over the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Justice Department said Thursday in a federal court case testing Trump’s legal vulnerability and the limits of executive power.
The department wrote that although a president enjoys broad legal latitude to communicate to the public on matters of concern, “no part of a President’s official responsibilities includes the incitement of imminent private violence. By definition, such conduct plainly falls outside the President’s constitutional and statutory duties.”

The United Kingdom's Security Service, also known as MI5, did not act quickly enough on information that could have prevented the suicide bombing that killed 22 people in 2017 at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, according to a report released Thursday.
The 226-page Manchester Arena Inquiry report acknowledged that it is impossible to reach any conclusion about the attack's preventability, but stated, "There was a significant missed opportunity to take action that might have prevented the Attack," and "The reasons for this significant missed opportunity included a failure by a Security Service officer to act swiftly enough."
