There's a competing theory that Epstein-Barr virus can cause shingles. Anon had mono as a teen.

I've read Mayo also. And I've listened to my doctor tell me I must have had chicken pox without knowing it.
There is a competing theory that other virii, especially EB, can cause shingles. I don't have the reference handy.
