DC police investigating death of Young Democrats of Maryland president

Washington, D.C., police are investigating the death of the president of Young Democrats of Maryland after he was found dead in the District more than a week after Maryland police said he went missing.
Prince George’s County Police said Sunday Joseph Kitchen, 34, was found dead in D.C. The police had said he was last seen at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis on Aug. 8.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington confirmed the department is leading the investigation into Kitchen’s death.
The Young Democrats of America and the Maryland Democratic Party expressed condolences Sunday after police announced Kitchen was found dead.
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic and untimely passing of Joseph Kitchen,” Young Democrats of America tweeted. “Joseph always pushed YDA to live up to its values and was someone who was not satisfied with accepting the status quo. His passion will be deeply missed. We express our deepest condolences.”
