Joe Biden Had Cancerous Lesion Removed From Chest Last Month

Joe Biden, 80, had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest last month, the White House doctor revealed on Friday.

AP reported:

A skin lesion removed from President Joe Biden’s chest last month was a basal cell carcinoma — a common form of skin cancer — his doctor said Friday, adding that no further treatment was required.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, the White House doctor who has served as Biden’s longtime physician, said “all cancerous tissue was successfully removed” during the president’s routine physical on Feb. 16.

O’Connor said the site of the removal on Biden’s chest has “healed nicely” and the president will continue regular skin screenings as part of his routine health plan.

Basal cells are among the most common and easily treated forms of cancer — especially when caught early. O’Connor said they don’t tend to spread like other cancers, but could grow in size, which is why they are removed.

Last July Biden blurted out he had cancer during remarks in Massachusetts.

Biden struggled to read the teleprompter during his garbled speech and at one point it appeared he announced he has cancer.

“And my mother drove us and rather than us being able to walk, and guess what? The first frost you knew it was happening. You had to put on your windshield wipers to get literally the oil slick off the window,” said Biden.

“That’s why I — and so damn many other people I grew up with — have cancer,” he said.

The White House responded to Biden’s possible gaffe – or casual announcement that he has cancer.

Michael Flynn sues government over 'wrongful and malicious' prosecution

Flynn's complaint stems from the Department of Justice's prosecution of him over a 2017 interview with the FBI.

Retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn on Friday filed a suit against the federal government seeking damages over what he called Washington's "wrongful and malicious" prosecution of him.

"As a direct and proximate result of Defendant’s actions, General Flynn suffered harm," his attorneys wrote in a filing with the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. "He was falsely branded as a traitor to his country, lost at least tens of millions of dollars of business opportunities and future lifetime earning potential, was maliciously prosecuted and spent substantial monies in his own defense."

File

Flynn Complaint

Flynn's complaint stems from the Department of Justice's prosecution of him over a 2017 interview with the FBI. He initially pled guilty but requested to withdraw from the plea agreement after the emergence of exculpatory evidence . Flynn was eventually pardoned after the DOJ asked to dismiss the charges against him.

Flynn contends that the DOJ was aware the prosecution against him lacked merit and cites a DOJ motion from then-U.S. Attorney Timothy Shea saying "The Government is not persuaded that the January 24, 2017 interview was conducted with a legitimate investigative basis and therefore does not believe Mr. Flynn’s statements were material even if untrue. Moreover, we [sic] not believe that the Government can prove either the relevant false statements or their materiality beyond a reasonable doubt."

"The DOJ therefore admitted that they should never have brought this prosecution against General Flynn because the interview that formed the basis of the criminal information should never have happened and, even though it did happen, it was not a proper basis for the felony charge," his legal team asserted.

The filing names the United States of America as a defendant.

Flynn is seeking compensatory damages to be determined by the court but that he expects to exceed $50 million, in addition to his legal fees and any other court-determined relief.

Jesse Binnall of the Binnall Law Group, which is representing Flynn, derided the federal government for its "politically motivated persecution of an American hero."

"What the Deep State did to General Flynn should never be done to another American, ever," he added.

Top US prosecutor makes surprise Ukraine visit

Attorney General Merrick Garland has dropped in to reaffirm US determination to “hold Russia accountable”

US Attorney General Merrick Garland made an unannounced visit to Ukraine on Friday, joining President Vladimir Zelensky at a justice conference and vowing to punish Russia for alleged war crimes. Russia has denied such accusations and pointed to Western disinterest in Ukrainian atrocities.

Garland made the trip, which was kept secret for security reasons, at the invitation of Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin, a US Department of Justice (DOJ) official told reporters. He held several meetings with Ukrainian officials and attended the United for Justice Conference in Lviv.

The trip marked Garland’s second unannounced visit to Ukraine since Russia’s military operation against Kiev began last year. On Friday’s visit, he “reaffirmed our determination to hold Russia accountable for crimes committed in its unjust and unprovoked invasion against its sovereign neighbor,” the DOJ official said.

Garland marked last week’s one-year anniversary of the conflict’s start by issuing a statement saying that a team of DOJ prosecutors was working with their Ukrainian counterparts to investigate “specific crimes committed by Russian forces, including attacks on civilian targets. At the same time, Congress has expanded our authority to prosecute alleged war criminals who are found in the United States.”

US officials have stepped up their anti-Russia rhetoric in recent weeks, such as when Vice President Kamala Harris claimed that Moscow had committed “crimes against humanity.” Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 18, Harris said Washington had “examined the evidence” and vowed that the alleged perpetrators would “be held to account.”

Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov reacted by saying the vice president’s claims were a cynical attempt to escalate the Ukraine conflict and justify efforts to keep pouring weapons into Kiev. He pointed out, too, that the US had ignored Ukrainian crimes, including the shelling of civilian areas in Donbass during the eight years leading up to the current crisis.

“Washington’s two-facedness is outrageous,” Antonov said. “Why is the State Department silent about the atrocities of Ukrainian cutthroats? What are the American human rights organizations thinking? Why is no one calling for the punishment of fascist thugs?”

President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday announced an additional $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. Washington has given Kiev more than $32 billion worth of arms and has allocated over $110 billion in aid since the conflict began. Russia has argued that NATO aid to Ukraine is only prolonging the crisis and causing more bloodshed.

Hunter Biden Linked To Chinese Military Firm Helping Russia Fight Ukraine

Hunter Biden's investment firm, BHR Partners, did business with a CCP-owned military company that's now sending fighter jet parts to a sanctioned Russian defense conglomerate, thus assisting the Kremlin in its war against Ukraine.

BHR - which counted Hunter as a 10% stakeholder, worked with AVIC automotive - a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China, to buy Michigan-based Henniges Automotive in September of 2015, the Washington Examiner's Jerry Dunleavy reports.

The Wall Street Journal reported in February 2023 that AVIC subsidiary AVIC International Holding Corporation had shipped “$1.2 million worth of parts for Su-35 jet fighters” to sanctioned Russian defense conglomerate Rostec subsidiary Kret on Oct. 24, 2022. Although a number of Chinese companies have been sanctioned over Russia’s war in Ukraine, AVIC is not one of them. AVIC’s provision of Su-35 jet fighter parts to Russia is notable.

The Ukrainian military claimed in August 2022 that the Russians had lost roughly two dozen Su-35 jets during the war at that point. The Rand Corporation said in October 2022 that Russia needed to replace Su-35s lost in combat but that sanctions were hurting its ability to do so. -Washington Examiner

Hunter Biden's lawyer claimed in November 2021 that Hunter "no longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles," an LLC owned by Hunter that held his 10% BHR stake.

Yet in September 2015, it was already publicly known that AVIC was working with several companies tied to the Russian military, including Rostec, and that these companies were under sanctions tied to the annexation of Crimea in early 2014.

BHR, meanwhile, said in September 2015 that it was "delighted to announce" the joint purchase of Henniges for $600 million in collaboration with AVIC.

The deal between AVIC and Rostec was inked in December 2014. In an announcement related to the agreement, Rostec boasted of "joint projects in aircraft, helicopter, and engine production," and that "cooperation with Chinese partners is part of Rostec Corporation’s strategic plan."

"We particularly value cooperation with AVIC," the Rostec statement continued.

Bakhmut "Practically Surrounded" As Wagner Chief Urges Zelensky Surrender His Forces 'To Save Lives'

Wagner Group is heavily involved in fighting to capture the eastern city of Bakhmut, and its head, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has said at this point the strategic city on Donetsk Oblast is "practically surrounded".

Prigozhin issued a video message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. Donned in military fatigues, he urged for the order be given for Ukrainian forces to retreat in order to save soldiers' lives. "Units of the private military company Wagner have practically surrounded Bakhmut. Only one route (out) is left," he said. "The pincers are closing."

Wagner has further claimed that the Ukrainians have destroyed the majority of bridges leading in and out of the city center.

Commenting on the aforementioned video by Wagner's leader, Reuters describes another scene as follows:

The camera panned to show three captured Ukrainians – a grey-bearded older man and two boys – asking to be allowed to go home. From visible buildings, Reuters determined the footage was filmed in Paraskoviivka, a village 7 km (4.3 miles) north of the centre of Bakhmut.

As we reported earlier this week, Zelensky and his top aides have lately issued statements appearing to pave the way for a 'strategic withdrawal' - or in reality a retreat - as better-armed and numerically superior Russian forces have the city almost completely encircled.

Blinken Unveils $400 Million More In Arms With Ukraine Against The Ropes In Bakhmut

As we reported earlier Ukrainian forces are nearly completely encircled in the key eastern city of Bakhmut, a dire situation which President Zelensky himself has increasingly acknowledged in a series of statements this week. Front line commanders have also said that Russian artillery has been relentless and "around the clock" in its sustainment.

As expected, Ukraine's leadership has pleaded for more urgent weapons and ammo from its Western backers. On Friday Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a new package of ammunition and other defense support, likely timed to give a mere symbolic answer to Ukrainians' desperate appeals for more help from Bakhmut.

It's valued at $400 million, and as international reports describe, "The package will be funded using Presidential Drawdown Authority, which authorizes the president to transfer articles and services from US stocks without congressional approval during an emergency," according to Blinken's description of the aid.

The package will include rockets for HIMARS systems, more Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles and other armored support, as well as howitzers.

Blinken said in a statement: "This military assistance package includes more ammunition for US-provided HIMARS and howitzers, which Ukraine is using so effectively to defend itself, as well as ammunition for Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges, demolitions munitions and equipment, and other maintenance, training, and support."

The NY Times too is currently acknowledging this is a largely symbolic response to Ukraine forces being up against the ropes in the single biggest battle in Donbas region right now. "NATO leaders have long warned of a looming artillery shortage for Ukraine as its troops burn through thousands of shells each day in trying to push back Russian forces," the Times writes.

"That has been particularly clear in the monthslong battle for the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, where Ukrainian troops are fighting to avoid encirclement by Russian forces," it adds.

Revealingly, the report also includes the observation: "It was not clear if the new tranche of American ammunition would arrive in time to defend Bakhmut, if that is where commanders decide it should be sent." Even as Ukraine is losing in Bakhmut, the administration is showing itself willing to pull from the Pentagon's own already strained weapons stockpiles.
