Recipe 5 (for your collection, neighbor who was more like a GrandmaAnon made anon this and provided the recipe. "Set it and forget it" and it's delicious, scale up or down on amounts, depending on how much you're making, outstanding comfort food, good with crusty bread to dunk in the delicious gravy it makes:
Add to: Dutch Oven/Crock Pot/Covered Roasting Dish in heated oven 275 degrees for 4 hours (sometimes I let it go longer, up to 6 hrs)
2-3 lb Stew meat, trim fat, salt and pepper
1 bunch of carrots (1 lb) peeled, 1" or so slices, add to pot, salt & pepper
6-8 potatos, peeled and cut into bite sized chunks, salt & pepper
2 large onions, sliced, cut into chunks, salt & pepper
2 cans tomato soup + 1 can of water + a pinch of sugar
Optional: celery, cabbage
This couldn't be easier, cheaper or more satisfying, minimal ingredients & prep, lots of flavor and leftovers, just meat-potatos-carrots-onions and it tastes like GrandmaAnon came over and cooked up that GrandmaAnon loves.
this makes the perfect bacon and not all curled up, hate those don't look cooked bits on the end, oven cooks the whole strip perfectly
