There's lots of things that our frens on the right would have an extremely difficult time comprehending and would just assume put someone like yourself in an institution rather than have a mature conversation about how people see themselves and would prefer to be. Live and let live is a difficult concept for many of them.

I was just about to ask "How many?".
I've met, and associated with at various points in my life, probably 30 or so; one being a relative. You don't just casually come to the subject of being molested as a kid with people, but out of all of them I know of 1 that said they were; but I get the impression it wouldn't have mattered with him. I've been hit on by a couple, and declined, of course, but always turned them down nicely. I guess just being exposed to it early on I didn't really see them as people that were "broken" or "fucked up in the head" or automatically assumed some traumatic event happened that flipped a switch in them. The relative? We knew. Us cousins all knew. Nobody ever said anything to him negatively (that I know of) and he's doing well for himself and comfortable with his self despite being brought up in a strictly religious environment. Very strict; cult-ish, even.

John the Beloved was probably gay. Just sayin. Also, Jesus never said "Thou shalt not be a faggot" and it was Paul that pretty much hated the fact that God made it to where people had to stick penises in vaginas to reproduce. And he pretty much hated women in general, to be honest.

I don't think there's been a huge upsurge, though. The population that's gay now, percentage wise, is probably about the same as it's always been. Are some of them more flamboyant and careless? Yes. And these dumb mothers taking their kids to drags shows aren't helping the situation. Unfortunately it's nothing new, but shit like that is definitely worse than it was before. The right can make a big fuss when they want, though, and for that particular kind of thing I don't have a problem with it. It's when they start getting on a ban frenzy and wanting to force everyone to either get baptized or beheaded; that's when I start getting concerned.
Yeah, let's not turn the US into fucking Singapore.
