For years, the Department of Homeland Security has run a virtually unknown program gathering domestic intelligence, one of many revelations in a wide-ranging tranche of internal documents reviewed by POLITICO.
Those documents also reveal that a significant number of employees in DHSโs intelligence office have raised concerns that the work they are doing could be illegal.

Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the fifth anniversary of the Salisbury incident
4 March 2023 10:00
It is now five years since the incident in Salisbury, which the UK authorities deliberately used to complicate UK-Russia bilateral relations. In this connection, we would like to remind everyone once again that despite Russiaโs numerous appeals and calls for a responsible dialogue, London is still refusing to engage in a detailed discussion and joint investigation of this event, in which Russian citizens were harmed. Moreover, the British are neglecting their international legal obligations, including those under the 1965 bilateral Consular Convention.
Up until now, the UK has been unable to provide any reliable information on the โSkripal case.โ At the same time, the UK leaders unashamedly continue using it in their large-scale anti-Russia propaganda campaign.
We resolutely condemn all of Londonโs attempts to hold Moscow responsible for what happened in Salisbury. We insist on a professional, objective and unbiased investigation of the incident. We intend to continue our consistent efforts to uncover the truth in the face of the obvious inconsistencies in the UKโs position. As before, we will urge the UK authorities to provide exhaustive official information and comply with their international legal obligations as regards granting consular access to our fellow citizens.
