Panera Bread is implementing palm scanners, which the company claims will make it ‘easier’ for customers by linking their fingerprints to their loyalty accounts and allowing them to use their palms as a form of contactless payment.

Panera is using Amazon’s palm-scanning or cashier-less checkout technology which is being used in more than 200 establishments in and outside the company.

As daylight breaks, new footage of the tornado disaster in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, has been posted on Twitter, providing a clearer view of the destruction and devastation caused by the powerful storm.

At least 23 people were killed and dozens injured after severe thunderstorms and a tornado struck rural Mississippi on Friday night, according to officials from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).

"We have numerous local and state search and rescue teams that continue to work this morning. A number of assets are on the ground to assist those that have been impacted," MEMA tweeted.

Resident Brandy Showah told CNN:

"I've never seen anything like this… This was a very great small town, and now it's gone."

Mississippi Governor, Tate Reeves, tweeted that search and rescue teams are active this morning. He confirmed the 23 deaths. He said: "The loss will be felt in these towns forever. Please pray for God's hand to be over all who lost family and friends."

According to The Aviation Herald, the March 18th incident took place aboard Air Transat flight TS739, an Airbus A321-200 service from Fort-de-France, capital of the French territory of Martinique to Montreal, Canada.

At FL360, about 200NM south of Montreal, the first officer reportedly became incapacitated. The Canadian Transportation Safety Board reported that a second officer was available onboard and was thus able to replace the incapacitated first officer. Unfortunately, no additional details on the first officer’s condition were made available.

BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) received a record number of drug overdose calls last week.

In an email to CTV News, BCEHS said Wednesday, Mar. 22 set British Columbia’s new record for the number of overdose calls received in a single day.

Vancouver assistant fire chief Keith Stewart said Vancouver alone saw 45 overdoses – a number he described as overwhelming.

“Drugs are being cut with so many different things at this time,” he said to CTV. “We’re seeing negative effects.”

Vancouver man stabbed to death outside Starbucks in broad daylight
