~‘Six-strong team’ carried out attack
According to reports in German media, citing the ongoing investigation by Berlin’s intelligence agencies, the attack was carried out by a six-strong team.
The operation began by renting a yacht in Poland from a company owned by Ukrainians, according to the new reporting by outlets including ARD and Die Zeit.
The team reportedly included five men and one woman. It was said to have included a captain, two divers, two diving assistants and a doctor.
Their nationalities were not known and they were said to have used fake passports, German media reported.
The equipment they used arrived by a delivery truck at the German port of Rostock and was picked up there. The boat reportedly then went to Wieck auf dem Darss, and then the Danish island of Christianso.
When the boat was delivered back to the rental company it reportedly had traces of explosives in the cabin.
There was later a tipoff to a Western intelligence agency, according to the reporting.~
