Investigators find vessel involved in Nord Stream sabotage – media

It allegedly belongs to a company owned by Ukrainians, German media outlets claim

German authorities probing explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines have identified a vessel that appears to have been involved in what is widely regarded as an act of sabotage, a host of German media outlets revealed on Tuesday. The yacht, which was reportedly used in the attack on the pipelines, belongs to a Polish-based company owned by two Ukrainians, according to the reports.

Germany’s ARD broadcaster SWR radio and Die Zeit newspaper launched what they called their own joint journalistic investigation into the activities of the German law enforcement authorities involved in this case.

Their findings indicate the yacht set sail from the German northeastern port city of Rostock on September 6, with the explosives and equipment for the operation arriving in Rostock separately in a delivery truck. The yacht was later identified on the Danish island of Christianso, located just north-east of the island of Bornholm, where the pipelines were damaged on September 26, 2022.

The yacht was then returned to the owners, and the investigators managed to find traces of explosives on a table in its cabin, the outlets claim. The act of sabotage was reportedly carried out by a team of six people, including a captain, two divers, two diving assistants, and a female doctor.

The identities or even nationalities of the suspects remain unclear as they had “professionally forged passports,” which they also used to rent the yacht in the first place, according to German media outlets. The German authorities have also reportedly found no evidence that might point to who might have ordered the pipelines to be sabotaged.

According to ARD, SWR and Die Zeit, a Western secret service organization allegedly tipped off some European “partner services”shortly after the explosions, saying that a “Ukrainian commando” unit was responsible for the attack. The media outlets also claimed there had been “further intelligence indications” that a pro-Ukrainian group could be behind it.

The German government has not commented on the information presented by the media so far. A few days ago, Sweden, Denmark and Germany “informed the United Nations Security Council that the investigations are ongoing and that there are still no results,” a government spokesman declared on Tuesday. Kiev denied any involvement in the incident when contacted by the German media.

Citing some anonymous US intelligence officials, the New York Times on Tuesday reported that a “pro-Ukrainian group” was behind the September 2022 attacks. “No American or British nationals were involved,” it added.

The NYT also said that the bombs that tore apart three out of four pipeline strings at the bottom of the Baltic Sea were “most likely”planted by experienced divers, who might have received “specialized government training in the past.”

Police break up anti-government protest in GeorgiaEU

Demonstrators besieged the parliament in Tbilisi over proposed laws on “foreign agents”

Riot police in Tbilisi deployed tear gas and water cannons late on Tuesday to disperse demonstrators besieging the Georgian parliament in protest over bills that wouldrestrict the activities of foreign-funded organizations. (Color Revolution Again. What populace has a riot over a law that would protect the country? Lots of Nazis flooding the EU))

Though some of the protesters dispersed, live feeds from local TV networks showed thousands still gathered outside the parliament entrance on Rustaveli Avenue, defying police orders to leave or face “legal measures.”

Police eventually advanced on the protesters and pushed them away from the parliament building. By 3 am local time, the crowds had mostly dispersed, according to local media.

Earlier in the day, Georgian lawmakers voted 76-13 in favor of a bill that would mandate all organizations thatreceive more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as foreign agents.

The other proposal under consideration was patterned after the American FARA, enacted in the 1930s, which would have applied to individuals andincluded criminal penalties. (Soros would be booted, he was behind the plan of the Color Revolution in Ukraine and other countries this year)

Opposition parties denounced the bill as “Russian” in style. They were backed by the US embassy in Tbilisi, which called its passage a “dark day for democracy” in Georgia and said it would “undermine the important work of many Georgian organizations helping fellow citizens.” (There they go again “democracy”)

EU foreign policy head Josep Borrell has also described the proposed bill as contrary to EU values and called on Georgia to support “democracy, rule of law and human rights.”

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who is currently visiting the US (???), endorsed the protests and said she would veto the law if it were to pass in the final reading.

“This law was not needed by anyone, and it does not come from anywhere, if not at the behest of Moscow,” she said in a video address from New York. “I do not care about its article-by-article discussion, its similarity to the old American law, which we well know serves a completely different purpose.”

The Georgian constitution, Zurabishvili continued, says the government’s principal obligation is “to bring this country to the European Union, to protect the path of European integration,” and the law in question is “taking us all away from Europe.”

Born in France,Zurabishvili was the French ambassador to Tbilisi in 2004, when the US-backed “Rose Revolution” brought Mikhail Saakashvili to power. She quickly received Georgian citizenship and became the country’s foreign minister. The ruling Georgian Dream party – which ousted Saakashvili in 2012 – endorsed Zurabishvili in the 2018 presidential election, but they have since fallen out. Ukraine considers LGBTQ breakthrough

Legalizing same-sex unions for soldiers would also please Kiev’s “Western allies”

Ukraine’s former deputy culture minister has proposed legalizing same-sex civil partnerships, arguing it would both reward the service of LGBTQ soldiers and please Kiev’s foreign backers. Inna Sovsun of the Golos party announced on Tuesday that she has submitted the bill to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration.

“Legalization of single-sex relationships is very important to me now,because if I come home [dead], my partner can’t even bury me,” was one of the arguments from the Ukrainian LGBT Soldiers and Allies’ Facebook community that Sovsun quoted in announcing her bill.

The bill is a product of nine months of work, involving two NGOs. It would establish legal grounds for people in same-sex relationships to regulate property ownership, inheritance, pensions and death benefits, Sovsun argued.

“I could say that this is what our Western allies are demanding of us – and it is true, they are,” but 56% of Ukrainians agree that LGBTQ people should be entitled to civil partnerships, she wrote. “As a society, we have matured beyond the ‘Russian swamp’ and Soviet worldview.”

Because Ukraine values “human dignity and freedom,” Ukrainians are “simply a different biological species” than Russians, she concluded. (WTF, yeah perverts)

While Sovsun did not provide a source for her figures, the percentage correlates to a 2017 online survey commissioned by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA).

Ukraine decriminalized homosexuality in 1991, but its constitution defines marriage as a voluntary union between a man and a woman (Article 51). As late as 2018, the Justice Ministry in Kiev argued there were no legal grounds for same-sex civil partnerships.

Sovsun represents Golos, a self-described “liberal” and “pro-European” party that supports President Vladimir Zelensky’s ruling majority. They won 20 seats – out of 450 – in the 2019 election, though 11 MPs have since broken away to set up their own party, called ‘Justice.’Sovsun herself was deputy minister of science and education between 2014 and 2016 – following the US-backed coup in Kiev– when the government’s move to restrict the use of Russian language helped touch off the unrest in Donbass.

U.S. Troops Running Out of Arms and Munitions as Biden Keeps Sending More to Ukraine

As the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, Biden keeps sending military equipment and ammunition to Ukraine. There is no end in sight, and Biden has even said as much.

Yet here in the United States, arms manufacturers can’t keep up with demand, and our own armed forces are already running dangerously low.

At what point does someone in Washington step up and demand that our own national defense is at risk?

Jed Babbin writes at the American Spectator:

Biden has sent roughly one-third of our Javelin anti-tank missiles and one third of our Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. Ukraine is expending those weapons and others faster than we can manufacture them.

We normally produce between 1,000 and 2,100 Javelins each year. The Army is trying to get industry to up the rate to 4,000 each year. Faint hope.

By some estimates, Ukraine is firing six to seven thousand 155 mm artillery shells every day. At that rate, they could expend the entirety of Britain’s stockpile of NATO-standard 155 mm shells in just eight days. Ammunition for the U.S. HIMARS (high-mobility artillery rocket system) and other munitions are also being expended at tremendous rates.

The problem we are having is that, despite some efforts to stimulate production in the U.S., the supply is lagging far behind the demand.

According to a Center for Strategic and International Studies report I mentioned last week,some credible estimates are that we would run out of ammunition — missiles, artillery shells, etc. — in one weekif the Chinese attacked Taiwan at this point and if — a big “if” — Biden decided to defend Taiwan. He has said we would do so four times and each time his cabinet has assured the Taiwanese that we hadn’t changed our “One China” policy, which means we wouldn’t defend Taiwan.

The problem is greatly exacerbated by supply chain problems. A friend of mine who is the CEO of a medium-sized aerospace firm that produces, among other things, radar systems told methat parts he orders today can’t be delivered for at least eighteen months.
