I thought this map might be helpful for anyone not in DC on January 6.

 

The blue arrows indicate the direction the patriots streamed in to the Capitol and the side of the Capitol where most of them were hanging out. Although there were a lot of people that walked to the Capitol, I think the number was a lot less than the 2.1 million people at The Elipse for President's Trump's speech.

 

I don't think a lot of people realize, that most of bad stuff, staged stuff that happened on the far side of the Capitol, opposite of the patriots, which is why a lot of the people on the patriot side of the building, especially those up close to the building, really didn't know anything about what happened until later, when they heard about it from someone else.

 

After I got to the Capitol, I went to a food truck to get something to eat, before walking up closer. While I was there, some of the people waiting in line, including myself, heard something like gunshots. Not long after, police cars, and all sorts of other law enforcement started pouring in, indicated by the white arrows. They were very clearly going around to back of the Capitol, indicated by the white arrows.
