for me it's clearing all the efforts to try, when it's all failing.
do what comes to you, work on what's needed, as it arises.
if there are dirty dishes, wash them.
if there is a mess, clean it.
but don't 'try', just do.
when you clear your mind of the thoughts of your issues that vex you, it seems to me (for me) that it opens up room for new ideas.
recognizing that weakness isn't a fault.
