Kosovo wants to start NATO-Serbia war – Belgrade

The Serbian president compared the breakaway province’s leader to Ukraine’s Zelensky

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic accused on Friday the ethnic Albanian authorities in the breakaway province of Kosovo of attempting to provoke a war in which NATO would once again take their side.

“They want to drag Serbia into a conflict with NATO.Kurti wants to be like [Vladimir] Zelensky, and I would be some kind of [Vladimir] Putin,” Vucic said, referring to the presidents of Ukraine and Russia. “It’s what they’re after, what they’ve been doing all along. And in this, they have the support of a significant part of the international community, because[Kosovo] is their child.”

(Clinton did this under pressure from HRC)

Vucic was commenting on the recent arrest of an ethnic Serb on charges of “war crimes” dating back to the1998-99 conflict, which ended with NATO bombing Serbiaon behalf of the ethnic Albanian separatists. The provisional government in Pristina declared independence in 2008, with Western support, which Belgrade has refused to recognize.

“They don’t want normalization, they want to humiliate Serbia,” said Vucic. “But I’m telling you, that won’t happen. There will be no humiliation, no capitulation.”

The proposal for “normalization of relations” between Pristina and Belgrade, made public last month by the EU, amounts to a de facto recognition of the breakaway province, which would have the right to join NATO, the EU and the UN. Vucic insists he did not sign anything and will never agree to those terms.

“We are preparing for talks on Monday or Tuesday,” he said, referring to the EU-sponsored talks in neighboring North Macedonia. “But it’s not clear to me why. They said they wouldn’t agree to a deal. Well, why are you coming then? For us to recognize Kosovo?”

Vucic insists that before anything else can happen, theEU needs to enforce the 2013 Brussels Agreement, which among other things envisioned a political autonomy for ethnic Serbs in the province. The ethnic Albanian authorities have refused to implement that part of the deal for ten years now, insisting it clashes with the ‘constitution’ of Kosovo. Neither the EU nor the US have done anything to influence Pristina to change its mind, Vucic noted.

Instead, the EU has just granted Kosovo visa-free travel to the bloc, while threatening an economic boycott against Serbia unless it joined the Western sanctions against Russia.

EU nation arrests politician for traveling to Russia

Tallinn authorities suspect Aivo Peterson of “anti-Estonian association”

Estonian authorities announced on Friday that politician Aivo Peterson had been arrested on suspicion of activities against the state, along with two other individuals whose names were not released. The Baltic country’s security service detained Peterson in the town of Narva-Joesuu, on the border with Russia.

Two Estonian citizens and one Russian national with permanent residence were detained, Security Police spokesman Harrys Puusepp confirmed to local media, identifying only Peterson by name. Puusepp did not offer any details about the charges against them, saying only that the state prosecutors were investigating them for “creating associations against the Estonian Republic.”

Peterson is a prominent member of Together (known in Estonian as Koos, and in Russian as Vmeste), a leftist political movement advocating the peaceful coexistence of Estonians and Russians. He ran for parliament as a candidate of the Estonian United Left in last week’s election. His arrest amounts to government repression, Together activist Andrey Pozdnyakov told the outlet Postimees.

Estonian outlets, such as Postimees and the state broadcaster ERR, described Peterson as a “pro-Kremlin activist” and accused him of making “pro-Russian statements.”

In late February, Peterson traveled to Russia and a photo of his visit to Donetsk appeared on social media. Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets said that the politician must have collaborated with Russian intelligence in order to get so close to the battlefield, and declared him a security threat to Estonia. Border security reportedly detailed Peterson for several hours on March 6, when he returned from Russia, but eventually released him.

Russian-speakers make up about a quarter of Estonia’s population of 1.3 million. The Baltic state, which is a member of the EU and NATO, has adopted a hard line towards Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine. In recent months, Tallinn has advanced the proposal to curtail Russian-language education, and said even the Ukrainian refugees would need to learn Estonian if they wanted to stay.

The opposition has accused Prime Minister Kaja Kallas of “stealing” the most recent election, which included a day of in-person voting on March 6 after a week of voting online.

Estonia is another Ukraine, the west has already done the coup by stealing the /PM spot with that woman a couple of weeks ago. 1/4 of the population Russian speaking will get the same treatment as Donetsk.

Ukraine moves to seize historic monastery

The government wants to evict the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Pechersk Lavra in Kiev

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) was informed on Friday that its monks and clergy had until March 29 to vacate the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, after a government commission decided they were violating the terms of their lease from the state. The church has refused, saying there are no legal grounds for the eviction.

Founded in 1051, the Pechersk Lavra (‘monastery of the caves’) is considered the most prominent Orthodox Christian site in Ukraine. Legally it is the property of the state, as a national historic preserve, and administered by the UOC under a 2013 agreement with the government.

According to a memo from the Ministry of Culture, published by multiple Ukrainian outlets, a commission established by President Vladimir Zelensky’s decree in December had determined that the UOC is in violation of the deal, and therefore must turn the monastery over by the end of March.

The UOC does not intend to leave, however. Its head, Metropolitan Kliment, told the outlet Liga that the document “does not mean anything” and amounts to “opinions of the director of the preserve, not supported by legal arguments.”

"How can we leave?” said the metropolitan. “We are responsible for this heritage that we have guarded for decades. And now we must leave it to its destroyers?”

Although it has declared independence and condemned Russia – as required by Zelensky’s edicts – the UOC remains in canonical communion with the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church. The current Ukrainian government has repeatedly accused its clergy of being “Russian sympathizers” and in December moved to re-evaluate the status of the Lavra.

Kiev is currently favoring the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” (OCU) – a non-canonical organization established by the government of President Pyotr Poroshenko after the US-backed coup in 2014. In January 2023, the government evicted the UOC from the Dormition Cathedral and the Refectory Church, adjacent to the Lavra, and immediately gave permission to the OCU to hold a Christmas service there.

Zelensky has also sanctioned more than a dozen UOC clerics and even stripped several of Ukrainian citizenship. The move to freeze their assets was mostly symbolic, as the Orthodox hierarchy consists mainly of monks.

Moscow has repeatedly condemned Zelensky’s crackdown as persecution of Orthodox Christianity. Reacting to the announced eviction of the Lavra, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wondered on Friday whether the US would get involved.

“Has the State Department heard about this?” she said. “This time they won’t manage to ‘not see’ the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

The State Department’s “religious freedom” office has not commented on Kiev’s repression of the UOC. Its report on Ukraine in 2021 noted that US embassy officials had met with the OCU leadership, and reserved most of the criticism for Kiev’s treatment of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

MEP blasts West’s ‘criminal’ approach to Ukraine

The EU lawmaker slammed Brussels’ continued military aid to Kiev

Irish MEP Mick Wallace has condemned the EU’s continued military support for Kiev, saying Brussels isnot taking the option of peace talks seriouslyand arguing that Ukraine is being "sacrificed" for the geopolitical "obsessions" of the US.

During a speech in the European Parliament, a clip from which Wallace posted to Twitter, he insisted that the EU, led by Washington, was refusing to “take the option of Peace seriously”amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Instead, Wallace said, the EU was standing by and watching "the slaughter and devastation"continue.

"The Global South isnot on board with helping this proxy war persist, because it makes no sense, " Wallace said, adding that it is "increasingly clear that Ukraine is being sacrificed for the obsessions of the US establishment."

The Irish MEP said the only people benefiting from the conflict were "weapons manufacturers and Western corporations,"which he claimed were “buying up Ukraine now for a pittance.”

"The Russian invasion is criminal, but the manner in which the West has been dealing with thishas also been criminal," he concluded.

Russia has repeatedly said it is open to talks with Ukraine if its leaders accept what the Kremlin calls the "reality on the ground,"referring to the status of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, which voted to join Russia in public referendums last autumn.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has floated a ten-point "peace formula" that would require Moscow to withdraw all of its troops from the territory Kiev claims as its own. However, Russia has rejected that proposal as unrealistic.

A 12-point peace plan put forward by China was met with a cool response from the West, with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg saying Beijing does not have "much credibility" in the issue. US State Secretary Antony Blinken, however, admitted that the plan included some "positive elements."

Last week, Wallace also called the September 2022 sabotage of the Russian-German Nord Stream pipelines "a premeditated terrorist attackon critical European infrastructure."

Fellow Irish MEP Clare Daly said it was “jaw-dropping” that the EU was not investigating potential US and Norwegian links to the attack after a report by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh alleged Washington was behind the sabotage.

=•Weapons needed to strengthen Kiev’s negotiating position – Sunak==

There is a consensus in the West that “now is not the time for negotiations,” the British prime minister said

The ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev will eventually end through negotiations, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told journalists on Friday. Western nations, however, believe that now is not the time for such talks, he added.

“Of course, this will end as all conflicts do at the negotiating table, but that is a decision for Ukraine to make,” Sunak said while traveling to France on the Eurostar high-speed train ahead of a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

“At the moment, the priority has got to be giving them [Ukrainians] the resources, the training and the support they need to push forward and create advantage on the battlefield,” he added.

Sunak maintained that the West still seeks to put Ukraine “in the best possible place to have those talks at an appropriate moment” by providing Kiev with all the support they need to have a “decisive battlefield advantage.”

Asked about recent comments by Macron that the West should not be aiming for “a total defeat of Russia” by attacking it on its own soil, Sunak did not elaborate on any specific plans the West has for Moscow.

His comments came as a growing number of people inside Ukraine have begun advocating peace talks with Russia instead of continued conflict, according to the head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Aleksey Danilov. The official himself blasted such thinking as a “dangerous tendency.”

(Sunak is an idiot, where are all the wise and smart PMs. Instead of draining their countries dry why not pressure Ukraine to make peace)
