Sales taxes are often used to fund first responders - they are in my state. Buying online hurts small businesses but you can pass it onto your buyers. This is good small businesses who have to compete with big online companies like Amazon.
I wish car manufacturers could get out of emissions regulations enough to produce a novelty model that was stripped down and lacked computer components, say, intended for those guys/gals who liked to tinker on cars like in the old days.

Understood. And the theory behind requiring Amazon and other big online vendors to have to collect sales tax is that it will let mom and pop compete and expand their inventory to better items.
