I don’t have the take away that Jesus hurt Paul, My understanding from the telling, is that Jesus caused his blindness to gain his attention and don’t forget he was the one who sent Ananias to lay hands on Paul to heal his blindness as well.
Jesus did the healing, Ananias was the vessel which was used for the healing.
I disagree with the notion that Paul’s story is false.
It was a total life change for him.
When he was Saul of Tarsus he was a Pharisee a Jewish high priest of the Law laid down by Moses, who wanted nothing more than to destroy the new Christian movement before it caught on and spread.
He was responsible for many Christian deaths prior to Jesus Christ’s personal intervention.
Think about how As the new Christian he became as Paul, he endured confinement, beatings, starvation, weather extremes, ship wrecks, basically a very difficult life and journey up until his ultimate death which he faced bravely all the while proclaiming to the Gentiles who Christ Jesus is.
God chose Paul for the very reason he was suited for. Think on this.
Saul of Tarsus possessed perfect qualifications to be an evangelist: He was versed in Jewish culture and language, his upbringing in Tarsus made him familiar with the Greek language and culture, his training in Jewish theology helped him connect the Old Testament with the gospel, and as a skilled tentmaker he could support himself.
