while writing anon clicked the "Save custom Javascript" button to verify what happens after.
when clicked that button, the page reloaded and anon lost the much-better-composed version with "first click '[Options]' in upper right, then …"

In this movie, disaster needs to be averted.
When it is? It forks/spawns/creates a new timeline, in which that disaster didn't happen.
Thus the budget for the "savior device" keeps being dismantled, after the device averts the catastrophe - "Why are we paying for this? Disaster never strikes."
Anon sees similarity in President Trump's announcement: his words are the device that causes the attack to stop.
Or it may still happen, which gives some weight of prophecy to his words (future; also, past - anon knows the typos are pointers).
