Obama deplaned from Air Force One without his wife and daughters in tow. He jogged down wearing no suit coat or tie, having rolled up the sleeves of his blue button-down shirt.
His flight from San Francisco was a little more than an hour long, but it allowed the president enough time to put calls in to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, according to a White House spokesman.
The president has no public events planned while he is in the Coachella Valley. He is set to return to Washington on Monday.
