Robert: when I took office in 1996, all the elected officials in my 6 counties (except me) were Democrats. Now there’s only one. The Democrat party has completely abandoned certain parts of the country, relying solely on big cities/counties. If you were to run and be successful, it would bring the party back to where it was 50 years ago. It would be good for the country. I say this as a life-long Republican. Our current system is broken and both parties are to blame. I wish you luck and you have my prayers as well.

As I write this comment, I am listening to this speech. I believe you would be able to draw the distinction between what you support and what corporatist support by measuring economic progress in how it improves the quality of life for Americans. FDR vowed a car in every garage and a chicken in every pot, after he was dead, Truman signed the Full Employment Act of 1948. As a result, the focus of the Presidency, and the other branches, was jobs. No longer was quality of life mentioned and Americans were now referred to as workers. Your Uncle John would talk about citizens or Americans, I don't recall his calling us workers or the working class.
