seems to me desantis has made a decision to go all in with the elites, assuming he was never not witih them.
he's clearly signaling that he's their guy. appearing with dominion's counsel and praising her, he was saying to the elites: "yep, i'm your guy."
he's betting they will win, and is saying he will help them win.
if they win, there are no more elections. just selections. desantis is betting they win and they will then select him.
so, no, he is not necessarily ruining his chances in 2028.
looking at him now, I see him as always being on their team. he's just their main rival to Trump. they've been grooming him for awhile.
they identified a weakness for Trump - the vaccines. so, they allowed desantis to make some noises about the vax, but that's all.
they allow him some limited initiatives, but nothing really that will move the needle nationally.
the truth is that desantis is an ivy league JAG involved in torture and is likely a compromised fucking scumbag. the main proof of that is he is courting the bushes, romney, the kochs, etc. at a time like this, you don't go to the enemy for support to defeat the enemy. you are the enemy in that case.
