Trump’s safety is at high risk every single day. Yes, if he were arrested, and actually put in jail, that risk would greatly increase. However, there’s zero chance he’s going to go past the secured door leading to a holding cell or cell block. Zero.
There probably are some legal loopholes for POTUS’ and former POTUS’, but I don’t know of them. In any case, they don’t want to set a precedent for arresting a President. Big can of worms.
Bragg is/was a puppet. While I’m sure he’s no fan of Trump, I would not be surprised if he really didn’t want to be the one to have to do this. He’s doing this at the behest of someone most likely. Someone who probably gave him an ultimatum.
