Hate ethanol. Being hydroscopic, it draws moisture into the fuel causing corrosion and has fewer joules of energy per gallon than petroleum based unleaded.
Plus it wastes million of gallons of fresh water in the Midwest, essentially brewing and distilling corn mash for Federal Subsidies. Tell me that's not a sure sign the mafia took control of the government!
Things are actually going pretty great, all things considered.
Thanks to whoever is balancing all those plates.
I'll bite. (My personal experience)
I own many small engines and have to hunt for "ethanol-free" to keep them running well. That "canned" fuel from Lowe's is a lie, it still has ethanol in it. Many of us need a clean supply of unleaded, just like some of us still need a lead replacement for our old equipment and vehicles whose engines don't have hardened valve seats.
Engineering is great and can show all the benefits of ethanol, and I would probably look at it all goggle-eyed too…on paper. But it shouldn't be federally subsidized and force-fed to engines not made for it.
I'm sure a cars built to use E-85 run freakin awesome, and good for them. I'm glad they have that option too.
But, absorbsed moisture doesn't produce any useful power as you are attempting to imply, it just puts the fire out and reduces power. Water and fuel should be injected totally separately and only in engines setup for it…unless you want cracked heads. The fact that straight Ethanol will take you 40% fewer miles than straight Unleaded, really has an impact on the range before refueling in Ethanol powered vehicles.
Tl:dr Ethanol can be cool, except when it sux

I never thought I'd see the day.
Gaetz is nearly a real person too…other than being blessed with a politician's head of hair.
Make…in the future…okay.
But I still need Unleaded NOW, and indefinitely.
Not a corporate assassin tryna take out my old ladies.

It’s a miracle … In only 3 weeks, John Fetterman got a total head replacement.
Man, he has some good doctors.

Questioning, maybe?
Fuel containing Ethanol that has sat for more than a couple of months "draws" moisture and engines running that now contaminated fuel run more poorly.
Water in the fuel is bad in real life.
It does bad things, like causing a gel/corrosion that clogs needle vales and small fuel passages, and prevents floats from operating properly which causes breakdowns.
You ever had a kidney stone pass?
That hurts so bad that it'll make you pray for a death that just won't come.
