Over the last month, several prominent retailers, including Walmart, Amazon, CVS, Foot Locker and Macy's, have announced a swathe of store closures. In total, nearly 850 stores are set to shut by the end of 2023, with many forced into desperate cost-cutting measures amid rampant inflation and declining bottom lines.
