New York City Teachers Union to Host Seminar on the ‘Harmful Effects of Whiteness’

The New York City teacher’s union is hosting a seminar on the “harmful effects of whiteness.”

The racist seminar from the United Federation of Teachers is titled “Holding the weight of whiteness” and will take place virtually on March 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“This course is about cultural humility and inclusion. It will allow us to discuss how whiteness relates to privilege and identity, and how both become normalized and invisible. It will focus on key cultural themes (e.g., internalized racism, privilege, microaggressions, white identity) related to Latinx/e communities,” the event description reads.

The event summary continues, “our presenter will share personal stories and experiences that relate to her identities and how these experiences have been shaped by racism. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how to center ourselves as a form of resistance against the harmful effects of whiteness in our lives, the organizations we work for or direct and the communities in which we serve.”

Erica Sandoval, a psychotherapy consultant and self-proclaimed “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leader,” is presenting the seminar.

The New York Post reports that “UFT members who are licensed mental health professionals can earn two hours of credit toward their continuing education credentials, which can eventually result in a higher salary.”

Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli wrote a letter on Friday to Tina Puccio, director of the UFT’s Member Assistance Program, after being contacted about the event by many outraged parents and constituents.

“Why is it important for employees of the New York City Department of Education to serve as a form of resistance against the effects of whiteness in their lives, the Department of Education, and the diverse communities in which they serve, which may consist of white students and families?” wrote Borelli, according to the Post report.

“To be clear, I don’t actually care what your speakers tell your members in an optional and private seminar,” Borelli continued. “I care how members will implement the ‘resistance’ against these ‘harmful effects of whiteness’ when dealing with students and parents as part of their employment with the department.”

According to the Department of Education, only about 14.7 percent of students in New York City public schools are white.

The Post report adds that “in recent years, the DOE itself has come under attack from critics for openly pushing an anti-white agenda that included distributing a book to students as young as 2 claiming the concept of race was created by white people who thought they were ‘better, smarter, [and] prettier’ than others.”

Maud Maron, a public school parent, blasted the workshop as “racist” in a comment to the newspaper.

“There is nothing wrong with being white, and the sleight of hand of talking about whiteness is not even a fig’s leaf worth of cover,” she said. “My kids have a white mom and Latino dad. This training says there is something wrong with mom and absurdly calls dad ‘Latinx’ — a word he would never use.”

6 girls dead in Tennessee car crash, all of the children were ejected from the vehicle

Six girls were killed in a tragic car crash early Sunday morning on a freeway in Tennessee.

Authorities say eight people – a man, a woman, and six children – were in a red Toyota Camry traveling near exit 24 on I-24 West in Robertson County, Tennessee. Around 2 a.m., the car allegedly veered off the road and flipped onto the shoulder.

The six girls and the woman were ejected from the car as it rolled. Emergency responders said the Camry was found upside down with "very extensive damage."

A pickup truck was near the crash site, the vehicle slammed into a concrete barrier. Officials aren't yet certain if the two vehicles affected each other or if the pickup truck driver reacted to the Camry crashing by accidentally hitting the barrier.

The driver of the pickup truck was able to walk away from the car accident.

The woman was airlifted to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and the man was rushed to the Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. The woman is in critical condition and the man suffered minor injuries, according to officials.

All six of the children were pronounced dead at the scene – five of the girls were reportedly under the age of 10. One of the girls was a 1-year-old infant.

The names of the injured and deceased had yet to be released.

WKRN-TV reported, "A total of four ambulances responded to the crash site, along with crews from Robertson County EMS, Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, Cheatham County EMS and the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)."

Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer said, "Our office recognizes the incredible difficulty of this scene."

Robertson County Emergency Medical Services is coordinating professional mental health and counseling services for first responders at the fatal car crash.

The deadly crash is being investigated by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Robertson County Emergency Medical Services said in a statement, "Please keep the families and persons involved in your thoughts and prayers."

Earlier this month, five children were killed in a heartbreaking car accident in New York. A Nissan Rogue being driven by a 16-year-old boy veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Scarsdale, New York.

New Documents Expose Government Censorship Efforts At Facebook And WhatsApp

New emails uncovered in the ongoing Missouri v. Biden litigation reportedly show that the Biden Administration’s censorship efforts extended to Facebook to censor private communications on its WhatsApp messaging service. In recent months, the Twitter Files revealed an extensive and secret effort by the FBI and other agencies to censor citizens on social media. I testified on that effort. Democratic members oppose efforts to investigate the full scope of this effort and even denounced those calling for greater transparency as “Putin lovers” and apologists for insurrectionists and racists. Yet, the evidence of an extensive censorship and blacklisting effort by the Administration continues to mount.

Facebook (now known as Meta) is accused of working with the government to target citizens with dissenting views on Covid and the pandemic.

According to emails obtained through discovery, Biden’s Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty pressed Facebook executives to be more aggressive with censorship. Flaherty reportedly objected that “I care mostly about what actions and changes you’re making to ensure you’re not making our country’s vaccine hesitancy problem worse…I still don’t have a good, empirical answer on how effective you’ve been at reducing the spread of vaccine-skeptical content and misinformation to vaccine fence sitters.”

Just a few weeks ago, I wrote that the congressionally created, federally funded National Endowment for Democracy (NED) had supported blacklisting efforts at the British-based Global Disinformation Index (GDI). The index was widely ridiculed for targeting ten conservative and libertarian sites as the most dangerous sources of disinformation; it sought to persuade advertisers to withdraw support for those sites, while listing their most liberal counterparts as among the most trustworthy.

At the time, I noted that the Biden administration had played us for chumps. As we celebrated the demise of the infamous Disinformation Governing Board with its “Disinformation Nanny,” the Biden administration never disclosed a larger censorship program.

Shortly after my column posted in The Hill, the NED wrote to me to say that it was discontinuing support for the GDI. Microsoft also was forced into retreat after it was shown to be pushing the GDI’s biased blacklist.

Then we learned of additional funding going through the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC).

We also know of backchannel communications with the CDC and other agencies.

It is assumed that the comprehensive effort to censor was not limited to Twitter. This is another indication of such efforts with Facebook. However, the Democratic leadership has opposed such an investigation for years. They have even refused to accept the email evidence. When I testified on the Twitter Files, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) criticized me for offering “legal opinions” without actually working at Twitter. As I have noted, it is like saying that a witness should not discuss the contents of the Pentagon Papers unless he worked at the Pentagon. It was particularly bizarre because I was asked about the content of the Twitter Files. The content — like the content of the Pentagon Papers — are “facts.” The implication of those facts are opinions.

Members like Wasserman Schultz will likely continue to refuse to acknowledge these new emails. However, the public has repeatedly shown in polls that they want transparency on the censorship efforts. The House may be able to guarantee that transparency as its need continues to rise with new evidence of the government’s efforts to silence dissenting views on social media.

Yet Another Biden Pick Withdraws Nomination

President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) withdrew from consideration Saturday after tepid support from the closely divided Senate made his confirmation uncertain.

Phillip Washington, CEO of the Denver International Airport, was nominated by Biden to fill the vacant post in July 2022 and renominated in January after the last Congress failed to act on the appointment. Republican senators grilled Washington at a hearing March 1 over the fact that he had no aviation experience prior to his hire in Denver in 2021.

“This, quite simply, is a position he is not qualified for,” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said at the time.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who backed Washington’s nomination throughout the process, confirmed Saturday that Washington was withdrawing his nomination.

“The FAA needs a confirmed Administrator, and Phil Washington’s transportation & military experience made him an excellent nominee,” Buttigieg wrote on Twitter. “The partisan attacks and procedural obstruction he has faced are undeserved, but I respect his decision to withdraw and am grateful for his service.”

Though Democrats maintain narrow control of the Senate, some moderate members had shown skepticism toward Biden’s pick. Independent Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who caucuses with the Democrats, was stonewalling the nomination process and may have voted against Washington’s appointment, a source familiar told The Associated Press.

Democratic Sen. Jon Tester of Montana also declined to publicly throw his support behind Washington, the AP reported.

Washington is also under scrutiny for an ongoing corruption investigation involving his previous position as CEO of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, or LA Metro, the governing body for local public transportation.

ABC’s Abrams: DA Bragg ‘Jerry-Rigging’ a 7 Year-Old Misdemeanor into a Felony to Charge Trump

ABC News chief legal analyst Dan Abrams said Sunday on “This Week” that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into former President Donald Trump is an attempt to turn a seven-year-old misdemeanor into a felony.

Anchor Martha Raddatz said, “All eyes are on the Manhattan DA this week. The case seems to hinge on a legal theory that’s never been used in New York. How risky is this?”

Abrams said, “It is risky for a number of reasons. The new theory is in getting it from a misdemeanor to a felony. They are kind of jerry-rigging it to some degree. The reason that’s novel and difficult is it has not been quite done in this way before. But there is also another factor here which is this is just not a misdemeanor case. They’re trying to get into a felony. It is also a seven-year-old case. It is also a case that two other sets of prosecutors, the previous DA and the federal prosecutors, decided not to move forward with.”

He added, “So when people say to me sometimes, well, this had been me, I would have been prosecuted for sure. My response is, if this had been you, I don’t know if, seven years later, they would have revisited this misdemeanor and try to turn it into a felony. So it is a challenging legal theory. They may be able to do it, but there are problems here.”
