Trump 'didn't make' up claim he would be arrested last week, his attorney says

Joe Tacopina said that he had not spoken to Trump about any possible special arrangements made with the district attorney's office.

Former President Donald Trump "didn't make" up the claim that he would be arrested last week, and he based it on "a lot of leaks coming out" of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Trump attorney Joe Tacopina said Sunday.

NBC News' "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd asked Tacopina whether Trump made up the claim that he would be arrested last week as part of District Attorney Alvin Bragg's probe into a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016.

"No, he didn't make it up, he was reacting towards a lot of leaks coming out of the district attorney's office," Tacopina responded. "There had been a leak, Chuck, that Monday … there was a law enforcement meeting, including Secret Service and NYPD, that was going to go through the logistics of the arraignment. And then there was, of course, a lot of rumors regarding the arraignment being the next day. So he just, I think he just assumed based on those leaks that that's what was going to happen."

Tacopina also said that he had not spoken to Trump about any possible special arrangements made with the district attorney's office.

"We've been in touch with the district attorney's office regarding potential logistics of an arraignment, if it gets to that point," he said. "But certainly it didn't come from us. It came from the leaks that we all read in the newspaper that Monday, or the Friday preceding."

Why does anyone grant an interview to Chuck Todd?

Paul, Roy introduce bill to replace NIAID with three agencies with Senate-confirmed heads

The directors of each agency would be appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate to no more than two 5-year terms.

Updated: March 26, 2023 - 12:35pm

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) introduced the NIH Reform Act to replace the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, run for 38 years by Dr. Anthony Fauci, and replace it with three separate agencies with Senate-confirmed heads.

"From the earliest days of the pandemic, unaccountable public health bureaucrats proved themselves far more adept at ruining lives than saving them," Roy said on Thursday, the day of the bill's introduction. "Never again should a single individual, like Dr. Anthony Fauci, wield unchecked powerand influence over the lives of the American people."

The bill wouldabolish the NIAIDand replace it with the National Institute of Allergic Diseases, the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the National Institute of Immunologic Diseases. The directors of each agency would be appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate tono more than two 5-year terms.

Fauci, by contrast, was appointed to lead NIAID in 1984 by then-National Institutes of Health Director James Wyngaarden. During his last year at NIAID, Fauci made more than $480,600, more than the president, according to FedsDataCenter.com.

"This will create accountability and oversight into a taxpayer funded position that has largely abused its power and has been responsible for many failures and misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic," Dr. Paul said.

The Daily Beast says it's more important that George W. Bush and Cheney are prosecuted than Trump

Burgis said he wants Trump to be charged with crimes, but says there needs to be accountability for other elected officials who he believes committed much worse crimes.

Updated: March 25, 2023 - 1:20pm

The left-wing media outlet The Daily Beast published an opinion piece that called for former PresidentGeorge W. Bush, former Vice PresidentDick Cheneyand former Secretary of StateHenry Kissingerto be prosecuted, especially if Trump is going to be charged for alleged campaign finance violations.

"Trump should be charged, but it is absurd that he is facing the possibility of arrest for paying hush money to a porn star while war criminals like George W. Bush walk free," Daily Beast writer Ben Burgis wrote.

Burgis refers to former GOP President George W. Bush as a war criminal and says he should be prosecuted for lying about "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq.

"If you knew someone who came home to the United States in a flag-draped coffin because of this transparently absurd patchwork of lies, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and the rest of the war-planners did something to you that can never be redeemed," he wrote.

Burgis said he wants Donald Trump to face consequencesif he broke the law, but says there needs to be accountability for other elected officials who he believes committed much worse crimes. (Even the titles in “Just the News” are misleading)

"Exempting current and former presidents from prosecution for evencomparatively petty crimesshould be offensive to our sensibilities as free people," he wrote. "Other presidents have done worse and not been indicted. Bush is just one in a long line of law-breaking presidents who haven't faced justice."

A grand jury in Manhattan solicited testimony from witnesses, including disgraced former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who alleges he arranged payments in 2016 to two women to silence them about sexual encounters they claimed to have had with Trump a decade earlier.

Trump predicted last week he could be indicted and arrested, but that has not yet occurred.

Millions whole heartedly agree with Ben Burgis, while you’re at it, look at what Obama did in Ukraine and the Middle East.

It's not NATO it's Joe that allows this, he doesn't care if they pay or not, since the money will be laundered to his family. NATO and EU just sit back and allow it.
