Church Accused of Covering for Molester
Kevin Lessmiller / October 24, 2013
NASHVILLE (CN) - A Presbyterian church covered up for a "confessed child molester," and "in cult-like fashion" put children in the molester's so-called "safe house," a family claims in court.
Austin Davis and his daughter Daisy sued theCovenant Presbyterian Churchof Nashville and its parishioner Dale Lewelling, in Davidson County Court.
Lewelling is not the alleged molester. The Davises claim Lewelling "assaulted the plaintiffs in an open hallway filled with people" during a period of turmoil at the church.
Austin Davis said in an interview that the alleged assault in the hallway came after he attended a class as a former member of the church.
"I got separated from my daughter and they were telling me I was breaking the law," Davis said. His daughter was a minor at the time.
In the lawsuit, Davis claims that on July 14, 2008, "the defendants quietly accept[ed] the resignation of the confessed child molester,John Perry, from the Covenant Diaconate, with Lewelling recorded in the board minutes as being present in the room."
Perry is not a party to the lawsuit, which continues: "The defendants intentionally conceal[ed] knowledge of the confessed child molester from appropriate authorities, the majority of the members of the congregation, and the plaintiffs. …
"In furtherance of the concealment of the sexual abuse of a child or children, the defendants permit[ted] the confessed child molester to remain a member of Covenant (having access to the church, its members, and the private school elementary property associated with the church) until 2010." (Parentheses in complaint.)
The Davises claim they were harassed, and ultimately assaulted, because they "were privy to information concerning defendants' concealment and concealment efforts of the unlawful sexual abuse of a child or children."
Austin Davis claims that in 2008 he objected to "the defendants' cult-like abuse of authority over vulnerable children … who were (in cult-like fashion) intentionally, knowingly, and willfully placed in an alleged 'safe house' owned and possessed by the confessed child molester." (Parentheses in complaint.)
Davis claims in the lawsuit that Perry was excommunicated on June 6, 2010, "for heinous and repetitive sin against his family."
In October 2012, Davis claims, the defendants threatened "to have plaintiffs arrested and thrown in jail," threatened to sue them "for no reason," threatened "to bring criminal actions" against them, defamed and intimidated them. The unnerving incidents allegedly culminated in the Oct. 21, 2012 assault, during which, Davis claims, Lewelling was acting as an employee or agent of the church.
Austin said in the interview that he had a right to be on church property.
"I think they're public places that people are allowed to go to," he said.
Davis claims he and his daughter "live under a continuing threat of arrest for communicating with Covenant members and threat of arrest for returning to Covenant property," while Perry "walks around a free man" because the defendants filed "to report the child molester to the appropriate authorities."
Covenant Presbyterian Church of Nashville did not respond to a request for comment.
The Davises seek punitive damages for malicious harassment, assault, and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention.
They are represented by Duncan Cates Cave.

Child SEX ABUSE COVER-UP at COVENANT Church of NASHVILLE SHOOTER
The shooting occured at Covenant School, which is part of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville.
There was a child sex abuse cover-up at Nashville Covenant Presbyterian Church beginning around 2007-8 involving the Pastor sexually abusing a child. The Pastor admitted it, but the Church did not excommunicate him until 2 years later and NEVER reported it to the police.
In 2012, the police investigated the unnamed girl's sexual abuse allegations, which they substantiated. However, the girl accuser was 18 at the time & it was past the statute of limitations. No criminal charges were filed.
18 years old in 2012 + 11 years = 28 or 29 years old today.
Was the shooter a child sexual abuse victim of the Covenant Church?
Here's my research dump so far. Merry Christmas.
Austin Davis was a member of the church that tried to expose the coverup, and the church kicked him out of the church and allegedly even sent some kind of armef security to his home to intimidate him into silence. He subsequently sued Covenant Presbyterian, some of those documents linked below.

N THE COURT OF APPEALS OF TENNESSEE AT NASHVILLE
March 25, 2014 Session
AUSTIN DAVIS, ET AL. v. COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, ET
AL.
Appeal from the Circuit Court for Davidson County
No. 13C2510 Carol Soloman, Judge
No. M2013-02273-COA-R3-CV - Filed June 23, 2014
Plaintiffs sued four individual defendants and three religious institutions for invasion of
privacy; malicious harassment; assault; intentional infliction of emotional distress;
negligence; negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention; and civil conspiracy. The
trial court dismissed all of plaintiffs’ causes of action for failure to state a claim upon which
relief can be granted. We affirm the dismissal of plaintiffs’ claims against two of the
religious institutions for failure to state a claim for vicarious liability. We also affirm the trial
court’s dismissal of plaintiffs’ claims for invasion of privacy; malicious harassment;
intentional infliction of emotional distress; negligence; negligent hiring, training, supervision
and retention; and civil conspiracy. However, having liberally construed the complaint as
we must at this stage of the pleading process, we find the complaint states a cause of action
for assault against the individual defendants and one of the religious institutions. Therefore,
we must reverse the trial court’s dismissal of the plaintiffs’ allegation of assault and affirm
the court in all other respects.
Tenn. R. App. P. 3 Appeal as of Right; Judgment of the Circuit Court Affirmed in
Part and Reversed in Part
ANDY D. BENNETT, J., delivered the opinion of the court, in which FRANK G. CLEMENT, JR.
and RICHARD H. DINKINS, JJ., joined.
Duncan Cates Cave, Nashville, Tennessee, for the appellants, Austin Davis, et al.
Thomas M. Donnell, Jr., Autumn L. Gentry, and Kelly M. Telfeyan, Nashville, Tennessee,
for the appellees, Covenant Presbyterian Church, et al.
OPINION
FACTUAL AND PROCEDURAL HISTORY
The Davis Family (“Plaintiffs”), former members of Covenant Presbyterian Church1
of Nashville (“Covenant”), filed their original complaint against Covenant, Jim Bachmann,
Joe Eades, John Avery, Worrick Robinson, Nashville Presbytery, and Presbyterian Church
in America (“P.C.A.”) on June 19, 2013. Covenant, Bachmann, Eades, Avery, and2
Robinson (collectively referred to as “Defendants”) moved to dismiss the complaint on July
24, 2013. Plaintiffs filed a motion to amend their complaint, which was granted by order
entered August 1, 2013.
On August 7, 2013, Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint alleging that:
The defendants committed a continuous series of intentional acts, negligent
acts or omissions, which damaged the plaintiffs in furtherance of an illicit act
by defendants to fraudulently conceal from appropriate authorities unreported
and unprosecuted child sexual abuse by confessed child molester, John Perry
(a book author) who is associated with or was once closely associated with the
defendants as a founder and former officer of Covenant, and same who
donated money to Covenant.
. . .
From 2002-2012, the plaintiffs were closely associated with information and
circumstances concerning vulnerable children residing at John Perry’s
residence and the defendants[‘] fraudulent concealment of unlawful child
sexual abuse by confessed child molester John Perry without plaintiffs actually
possessing knowledge of child molestation by John Perry until 2012.
The complaint goes on to attempt to assert causes of action for invasion of privacy; malicious
harassment; assault; intentional infliction of emotional distress; negligence; negligent hiring,
training, supervision and retention; and civil conspiracy.

A Thread:
1/ Covenant Presbyterian Church and its church-run school, targeted in today's tragic shooting, are at the center of a complex child sexual abuse scandal from 2002-2012.
2/ A 2012 lawsuit alleges that defendants associated with Covenant, including Bachmann, Eades, Avery, and Robinson, were involved in concealing unlawful child sexual abuse by John Perry. The plaintiffs were unaware of the abuse until 2012. https://cases.justia.com/tennessee/court-of-appeals/2014-m2013-02273-coa-r3-cv.pdf?ts=1403648321
3/ By 2015, two lawsuits alleged child sexual misconduct by Perry. During divorce proceedings, Perry's ex-wife claimed his "inappropriate marital conduct" led to their separation, also as reported by the Arkansas Times.
4/ John Perry was a prominent pastor who had co-authored several books with then Arkansas governor, Mike Huckabee.
The church allegedly used Perry's home as a "safe house" (on the back of his “good reputation”) for children they believed were mistreated by their parents.
Right Side of History™️@xxclusionary
5/ This arrangement allowed the church to remove children from their homes and place them under Perry's care, raising serious concerns about the safety and protection of these vulnerable children in the hands of a confessed child molester.
6/ In June 2009, a family sought help from Attorney Larry Crain after being silenced for raising concerns about children's safety in Perry's "safe house." Crain later filed a $3M lawsuit against the person who reported the abuse while representing Perry.

10/Presbyterian Church Association was reportedly going to bring charges against Pastor Jim Bachmann of Covenant, another church member who was implicated in enabling the abuse. Yet, no one has been charged in connection with the child sexual abuse allegations and cover-up.
Right Side of History™️@xxclusionary POST #11 - 23 https://twitter.com/xxclusionary/status/1640598560876920832
11/ This leads to the question, when females only commit 2% of all mass shootings and have only committed 4 of the 147 school shootings before this event, could this have been a carefully plotted vengeance mission?
dailymail.co.uk
Female school shooter in Nashville is just the FIFTH in history
The 28-year-old woman who opened fire at a private school in Nashville, Tennessee is just the fifth female school shooter in history.
13/ The ages match up. Audrey, born around 1994, would have been an elementary – middle schooler sometime between 2002-2012 when the alleged abuse happened. Covenant Presbyterian taught kids from K-6th grade. Could Audrey have been a victim too?
abcnews.go.com
Who was Nashville shooter Audrey Hale?
The shooter who attacked the Covenant School in Nashville was identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who law enforcement said may have once attended the school.
14/ Below is a link to a document belonging to a database outlining the sequence of events of Covenant's sex crimes and cover-ups. It was compiled and created by a man attempting to expose Covenant for nearly a decade.
What are they trying to hide?
https://keepandshare.com/doc15/23229/3o-dec-21-rise-of-a-titan-stuart-latimer-john-perry-covenant-child-sex-abuse-cover-up
15/ As a disclaimer: This is in no way excusing the actions of Hale; in no way did anything that happened to her justify her actions, and that is not what this post is trying to excuse.
This post is attempting to dig into the facts surrounding a murky sequence of events.
16/ Another potential piece in the puzzle, Hale messaged her middle school basketball teammate on social media informing her she was going to die by suicide and:
“One day this will make more sense," Hale wrote. "I've left behind more than https://newschannel5.com/news/she-checked-her-instagram-she-didnt-expect-a-message-from-the-covenant-school-shooter

She checked her Instagram. She didn't expect a message from The Covenant School shooter.
At 9:57 a.m., a former middle school basketball teammate of Audrey Hale looked at her phone to find a message from The Covenant School shooter on Instagram.
17/ Something that could disprove this theory is if covenant was actually secondary target and the undisclosed school was the primary target.
This is unless the undisclosed school in someway had a connection to the abuse scandal.
18/ http://Janespeaksup.com for that regional area eludes to multiple christian schools in that area, in that time period, having allegations of cover ups of sexual abuse.
But this is a less likely scenario IMO and wouldn't even be testable until the manifesto is public anyways.…

Jane Speaks Up! Speaking Up for Positive Change in the Church and Community
19/ As to why she would target kids when an adult would be the abuser: who knows. Anyone who would senselessly murder children and teachers isn't logical.
Crazy people don't think rationally. Plus, since she was a TIF, she likely was on Testosterone and other psych meds.
20/ Testosterone increases aggression and impulsivity, and who knows what comorbid conditions and/or antipsychotics, SSRIS, or uppers, she was on.
Crazy people don't think rationally.
21/ But this theory being true is neither favorable to the right or the left of the political spectrum obviously. The right wants it to be a hate crime (what I thought it was at first), the left wants it to be a fear induced downward spiral due to the alleged "trans genocide."
22/ I made this thread because when I looked Hale's and Covenant's background due to curiosity since female school shooters are so rare, I found the abuse lawsuits within minutes.
I thought it was strange that there were no news articles covering the potential connection.
23/ But in sum, only time and the manifesto will tell.
Here is the Jane website link for the specific region the school is in again for reference (it is also linked multiple times above)
