Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) - What Is It? I Don't Think They Say.

Anon is not really sure that the explanation provided on ESG's website provides a complete picture of what it is. Anon suspects that it's another tool used to leverage corporate influence and inclusivity. Anon wonders exactly what happens, if a company doesn't comply with all of the goals set forth by ESG. Anon wonders what the goals (other than control) of ESG are. They do have their eyes on your 401 (k).

The word salad descriptions and explanations, of what ESG is, remind Anon of the way Kamala Harris talks. "ESG covers a wide range of issues" and "disparate silos" (think multiples), while at the same time being described as a "very important topic" (think singular). ESG has "transparency and accountability goals". In light of Silicon Valley Bank's involvement with the issues addressed under ESG's umbrella, Anon can only hope that their accountability goals include good accounting practices. ESG will train your employees so they can bring knowledge to your organization. Anon hopes that doesn't mean your employees will bring the art of the word salad to your organization. Almost forgot to mention that ESG is green. USA Financial and Haverford Trust Company have bought into ESG.

ESG.org, based on what Anon has found so far, has a small number of people on its team. Leadership consists of 3 people including the founder. They have (in Anon's opinion) a poorly defined fellowship program and a poorly defined "warrior" award program.

Yahoo Finance and some other finance types seem to think ESG is a good thing (See 5/7 below).

ESG seems to be the next best hope for some educational types. Traliant and CFI are spreading the ESG agenda. The Harvard piece may give some better insight into what ESG is about.
