FAIRFAX, VA: "Crisis negotiators with Fairfax County, Virginia, police have tried to get an armed woman barricaded in her SUV along Route 1 to come out for more than a day. The incident has blocked traffic along a busy highway through Fairfax County. Now, a warrant is shedding light on what may have led to the mental health crisis police said the woman is experiencing. The unnamed woman, who is armed with a handgun, fears going to jail on the charges she faces for abducting the woman she was dating, sources told WTOP. After a short pursuit, the woman stopped the black Jeep Cherokee on a service road beside Richmond Highway. Unsure if she is a danger to herself, or what might happen given that the woman is armed, police said they have blocked off the road to protect the public’s safety.
Fairfax County Police said in a tweet that “this closure will impact rush hour traffic,” and drivers should avoid the area. Crisis negotiators have played recorded messages from loved ones to the woman in the SUV, saying they loved her no matter what and to please cooperate with officers. It’s unclear what she has in the vehicle, and whether she has food and water."
